Time is now. A couple of years of hurt, after which we get a new look. How many of those on the 2025 cap can we offload to another team, I wonder? Out of the top 16, only a handful need we keep next year, McCoy, Ruiz, Olave, Granderson, Sheppard and maybe Johnson (although even at his salary a case can be made he's not worth it). Actually, looking at the entire list, you can make an argument on getting rid well over half that roster. We're still paying MT and Crab Legs for one more year.

Re: So... who you got as next Saints HC ?
This won't be a easy fix.
1 - need to start hitting home runs in the draft 2 - get that cap in order 3 - over paying OLDER players needs to stop 4 - cutting AK saves roughly 17M. Ramz 6M, Cam J 3M etc. 5 - continue to rebuild in those trenches on BOTH sides. Just about everyone needs to be a candidate for a possible trade. That's a tall task for any new Head coach to over come. I'd start looking at someone from Dan Campbell's coaching (Johnson, Glenn). Saints need a real plan, not a quick fix. |

Now that this thread is more relevant, who's stepping up to be a candidate to be HC? There's only 32 teams... will someone of quality want to come here with our crazy cap situation?
That's after years of cellar dwelling. We're going to have to get there for a couple of years to clear this cap situation.
