Re: Turning Attention to the Draft

I think we might be surprised at how common the Deion/Shedeur type of dynamic there is among NFL prospects. Deion just happens to be more visible than most coach fathers. I can't count the number of times I have heard a draft analyst, game commentator, or some other form of talking head mention a player as being "a son of a coach". It makes sense that they would be more commonly successful than athletes not having a coach as a father. They would naturally be more driven, for multiple reasons. I would imagine that many of those fathers would be far more intrusive than someone like Deion. You can also lump in son's of former players. Just look at our own Archie Manning and how he basically strong-armed the trade of Eli to the Giants during the draft.

Not quite sure how to articulate what I mean, sorry if it doesn't come across.
I get what you are saying.

Re: Turning Attention to the Draft

Giants (Russ will be 1 & done)
Jets (A Rod is gone)
Browns (always need a QB)

All ^^ draft ahead of the Saints & I’m not so sure they will all pass on Shadeur.

Ward is probably the first pick (Titans) taken.

Stranger things have happened on draft night though.

Re: Turning Attention to the Draft

Jahdae Barron - CB
Texas

Strengths

- Above-average size and strength as a “big nickel” corner.
- Able to forcefully redirect routes over the first 5 yards.
- Has plus awareness and instincts to make timely responses from zone.
- Ran receiver’s routes for them like he knew the play in 2024.
Claws, slaps and punches to beat up the catch point.
- Swarms in after catch with good angles and physical strikes.
- Under control and slides his feet to tackle in the open field.

Weaknesses
- Limited exposure in man coverage.
- Might not have the top-end speed to carry verticals solo.
- Average lateral transitions and recovery bust when beaten.

2024: First-team Associated Press All-American. First-team All-SEC. Won the Jim Thorpe Award (nation's top DB). Finalist for the Bronco Nagurski Award (nation's top defender). Peach Bowl Defensive MVP (11 tackles) in the team’s 2OT quarterfinal win over Arizona State. Tied for fourth in the FBS with 5 INTs. Led team with 11 PBUs. Started all 16 games (67 tackles, 2.5 TFLs with 1 sack).

IMO Barron > Day 1 starter & contributor.

Latt was traded and we lost Adebo in Free Agency. I'm not so sure Alontae Taylor is an outside guy at this level.

Boundary CB is a still a big question mark in N.O.

Can the Saints steal this guy in the later rounds?
