All we have is Deuce? All San Diego has is Tomlinson. All Seattle has is Alexander. All the Colts have is Edge. You know what those 3 RBs have, a QB who scares defenses. I GUARANTEE defenses would not play us the same with Leinart, as they did with AB. Deuce is 26 years old. Or 27. It is pure insanity to crowd our cap room with two players at the same position, no matter how good Bush is. It makes NO sense. It would be fun on Madden, but that's about it. We have threats at WR, if we need another one we take Devin Hester in the 4th round or something. But spending a pick THAT high on another RB is insane, from a cap standpoint. If Deuce hadn't gotten a new deal, I would love this idea, cause at least he'd be tradeable. IF we need another RB that badly, we can take Addai in the second or something, or Morency if he falls. But there is no way on Earth we can put that much cap money in RB, when we need a QB, a DT, 3 LBs, and a LT. Impossible.

This site: http://www.askthecommish.com/salarycap/numbers.asp Says we have 10 million in cap room next year, no doubt factoring in the extensions. Are we still not strapped for cash with so many other needs? QB being the main need right now? |

So you are factoring in getting rid of guys? Okay, so possible that could bring it a little higher, but I am certain the 10 mil figure has Howard included, cause he is not under contract next year anyway. And this is also before we franchise Bentley or whatever. So even with that, if we cut or trade Brooks, that takes us to about 16 mil. Bentley and Howard will cancel each other out. So 16 mil, and we need a QB, LT, DT, and 3 LBs, and a kicker. Plus we have the second pick in the draft. Still doesn't work. And without another starting caliber LT on the roster, I highly doubt they cut Gandy. There is no sound argument for taking Bush. Not one. Not with so many other needs, QB being paramount. Having a QB defenses actually fear can beat you will help Deuce WAY more than another RB, no matter how good he may be. And why would Deuce wanna share his carries anyway, with what he makes? He seemed damn happy when he was gonna be featured in the offense, he even called Haslett and said thnk you when we drafted Jamaal Brown. This just does not work for so many reasons.

i dont think drafting leinert is going to make defenses fear us.... he will be a rookie and all rookies struggle.... RBs usually have an easier start b/c not as much pressure is on their shoulders and u will still have to bring in another veteran qb to mentor leinert....

Tough call... I know we need a QB but lets face it....as much as I love Deuce...thats two seasons loaded with injuries. We may have to see alternatives in that position. Are there any other RB prospects comin out this year?
