I don't know all the details of Brad Johnson's situation at Minnesota. But an article in the local paper suggested he wasn't all that happy with the new Viking regime announcing Culpepper as their man. Johnson's gettin' a little old, but I like him. Perhaps he could keep the Saints afloat for a while.... 8) |

May not be the appropriate place for it, but here's the article on Brad Johnson....
Johnson still has NFL future at QB Column by Randy Beard TALLAHASSEE DEMOCRAT STAFF WRITER Peyton Manning is more prolific, Tom Brady more proficient and Michael Vick more prodigious. But when it comes to quarterbacks in the National Football League, no one is more professional than Brad Johnson. He manages games, commands teams and never complains. “I've done that for three different organizations, taking them to the playoffs, said Johnson, who just completed his 14th season in the NFL by salvaging a shipwreck of a Minnesota Vikings team. “I've had five different coordinators during that time, and the numbers are there. The numbers haven't changed from my first year as a starter to now. “I love to play, and I feel like I should be a starter in the league. Nothing ever has been handed to Johnson. It didn't happen during his four years at Florida State, and it hasn't been the case during his marathon run through the NFL. Indeed, four years into his pro career, Johnson had appeared in just nine games and didn't have a touchdown pass. But give him credit. He kept breaking down film and plugging through playbooks until his opportunity finally came with the Vikings in 1996. He has since started 108 regular-season games, passed for 25,798 yards and has a Super Bowl ring to cherish. But respect? It's still slow to arrive and quick to disappear. He earned it, then lost it, with the Washington Redskins. And then the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, of all teams, taught him that Super Bowl memories don't guarantee roster spots. “Contracts don't mean anything in the NFL, said Johnson, who has three years remaining on his four-year deal with the Vikes. “I've seen owners bought out. I've seen coaches traded. I've seen players come and go. ... I saw John Lynch let go. Tampa said he couldn't play anymore and now he's made two more Pro Bowls and is in the playoffs. “It's funny how perceptions are sometimes. The latest worrisome one about Johnson belongs to new Vikings coach Brad Childress. He has decided that Daunte Culpepper, if healthy, should be the starter next season. Never mind that Minnesota was 2-5 before Johnson stepped in and won seven of the last nine games. He wasn't the QB implicated in the “Love Boat scandal that nearly tore apart the team, either. But if it is Johnson's 37 years that worry Childress, someone should point out that the 14-year veteran handled playoff-like pressure the last two games, completing 52 of 76 passes for 495 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. “My game is still pretty much the way it was when I was 27, said Johnson. “Get back quick, make the read, make the throw. Give your team a chance to win. Spoken like a true professional. http://www.tdo.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...73233050139190 8) |

AB
I have defended AB in the past, but I think its time to move on without him.....Matt Schaub might be a good fit, if we stick with the a run first mentality.

AB was part of a very large problem that included all of the coaches AB and a few other players. Bouman is only second string dude. You can't argue anything about him. We all know they both suck. |
