RE: Rumors are flying?
If we do miss out on Leinart... I fully expect us to draft Cutler. We NEED a quarterback... having AB for another year without a successor is unacceptable.

RE: Rumors are flying?
So how about we just draft a LT with our first pick... then a center with our second... a guard with our 4th... a backup right tackle with our 5th, and a couple of guards for depth with the 6th and 7th rounders.

RE: Rumors are flying?
Funny how no has mentioned the possibility of us drafting Bush with the second pick if leinart is gone. Everyone seems to be convinced we'll either go QB or OL. Why not take the best player available and Bush would be filling a "need" position for us. Look at it this way....McAllister has been hurt every year since his rookie year and a high quality RB such as Bush could mean one of the two could become trade bait in another year or so. Is this also a possibility or is everyone here convinced we want a qb.

RE: Rumors are flying?
I'm not convinced we need a quarterback, infact we need impact players on both sides of the ball. Line backers, a center more than likley, a guard and a left tackle, not to mention a running back as I am in complete agreement that Duce may not be back to form(God I hope he is), a kicker and a quarterback that can push out the incumbent.
The question is will Reggie last long in the NFL as a full time running back? He is not built like Barry Sanders, although Warrick Dunn has lasted a few years??? Good Question. This years draft is pretty deep with backs and if we trade down to aquire more picks I'm sure we take a back, but if Bush is availible at number 2 do the Saints take him. I'm not certain they do. |

I agree with Fan. Truth is QB is not our top priority. It is a priority...but not tops.

RE: Rumors are flying?
Up here in New York all the talk shows are talking about the Jets trading up to #1 to get Leinart. This would really piss me off and give me another reason to hate the Jets. However, the Jets want to unload Abraham and it seems more likely they'll trade Abraham to Washington for Ramsey. Wait till the end of the week to see what the Jets do with Pennington, they have till Friday to decide his future with the team. If we don't get Leinart, then we have to trade down and pick up either Brick or Hawk.

Heck I wouldn't mind having Bush on this team... it's going to put a lot of people in the seats. He's going to be great and will be exciting to see every Sunday. But, it does not make sense to take him. We gave Deuce a 50 million dollar contract... are yall suggesting we cut him? If we draft Bush with the #2 pick, we are going to throw a lot of money his way because of the slot he's being selected in. This is in no way similiar to the Ricky/Deuce selection. Deuce was a low 1st round pick which means we didn't throw millions and millions at the guy. So unless we cut Deuce, which I'm not in favor of (at least this upcoming season), Bush wouldn't make sense here... just those two would eat up all our cap space. Ahman Green is an unrestricted free agent... if we want insurance for Deuce, give Green an incentative heavy deal. I hear he's considering going to play for Saban as Ronnie Brown's backup... he'll have a better chance getting more carries here. |
