Rumors are flying?

Texans | Team exploring trading No. 1 pick
Sun, 26 Feb 2006 14:54:01 -0800 Cliff Brunt, of the Associated Press, Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly said Sunday, Feb. 25, that the Texans have been talking to teams about possibly trading the first pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. "There's clearly players at the top of this draft that are marquee players," Casserly said. "Players that are impact players, players that are going to go to the Pro Bowl, players that are going to sell tickets. We're going to get offers for this pick. We've already had discussions with teams. I think there's value in our pick." |

This is the only way I'd be for trading down. If the Texans trade down with the Jets, then the Saints should offer up their pick. This way they can go after Cutler, Ferguson, or Hawk. It would be our luck to get screwed out of Leinart.

Carr, Davis, and Johnson are already set at the skill positions. They need to get someone to protect Carr so he can make plays.
Honestly, I don't like Young going in the top 10... but I'm just going to leave him there anyways. I had him pegged as a 2nd/3rd rounder before the USC game but I'm just going to follow the bandwagon on him. I guess potential outshines a lot of things. |

RE: Rumors are flying?
Been out of the loop, but I do know that free agency will have some talent at the QB position this year.
I know the Jets original plan was to have Jordan replace Martin, but they ran out of time, and Jordan is now showcasing his skills with Oakland. Will they pick his successor with the 1st overall pick, or, secure some talent at the QB, a position where the current starter has 25 games started under his belt.....over the past three years? |

RE: Rumors are flying?
If the Jets ARE going for a Leinart then that'd be a reason to trade up, as would going for Bush. But at the fourth spot one of the "big three" QBs will still be available, so I don't see it happening. The Jets know they have to worry about QB (now) & RB (soon) so go for the QB this draft and look for an RB in the later rounds and/or next year.

RE: Rumors are flying?
I agree, Martin may have 1-3 years left, but the problem is Bush. A runningback like this does not come along very often. I wish the decision was cut & dry, but I don't think it is.
If we lose out on Lienart, it will be the 4th straight year I will be......I don't want to say disappointed in the 1st round picks, I had the Saints picking Brown in my mock last year, and I thought Smith was the best value the Saints have ever acquired in a 1st round pick (Roaf included).....let's just say I'll be apathetic, losing out on my personal choice. |
The waiting drove me mad....
I don't want to hear from those that know... Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed Eddie is a....draftnik? |

RE: Rumors are flying?
I'll be pissed if we don't get Leinart. But, the ONLY way that the Saints could make up for it would be by trading out of #2, getting Hawk, and a couple of other picks. Then I guess we could sign some veteran QB.... but a young rookie franchise QB is so exciting and exactly what this team needs.
