However, with our continuing inefficiency in FA, and the loss of Bentley, I just think the best thing for this team is to trade out, get Hawk, pick up Mangold in the 2nd round, and then use the rest of the picks on defense. I really think Leinart is the next big thing at QB in this league, but if Brees can stay healthy, and we can use the other picks on drafting playmakers at OC and on the defense, then I think it would be in the best interest of the team to trade down. It really pains me to say that because I really think Leinart is the shiznit, and I used to think that we'd get a guy like Witherspoon in FA, then we could focus on just QB and OL with the first two picks. But that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Oh well.
You know you and I have been fighting for Leinart forever, but that no longer seems to be the only option, or clearly the best option. It's still a damn good option, but the more FAs we lose outo n, the more I wanna see us get Brees just to be able to trade the pick and get players in here through the draft. I would LOVE to have Leinart, LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it, but if we can;t get FAs, and the choice is Leinart and then Hodge, or Brees and then Hawk or Fergie, and Mangold, and other picks, that HAS to give anyone pause, no matter how much they want Leinart. The fact is, if we had gotten Kemoteau or Witherspoon, or any other big name defensive player, or even guard Steve Hutchinson, I would still be leaning way more towards Leinart. But as it stands, and the way guys are flying elsewhere, I am all for getting the most and best picks we can out of this draft, and taking a chance on Brees. Like I keep saying, if he can't go, Brady Quinn is in next year's draft.

Not just Quinn. When you take Juniors into consideration, next years quarterback class could be pretty dang impressive.

Absolutely. Quinn, Kevin Kolb, Chris Leak, John David Booty, Troy Smith, JaMarcus Russell, Matt Flynn, Chad Henne, Bret Meyer....amongst others.

the most gifted of the Booty clan, yet hasn't set foot on the field during game day.

Because it will probably fall off when he does.

I know the Booty family very well, played high school baseball with Josh. Josh had all the drive in the world, but did not have enough on the talent side to succeed. Abram had more athletiscism than Josh, but had zero drive. John David has the best of both.

For wheelman...

John David Booty will be USC's starting QB next season. When he blows up and is all the hype, you read it here first.

We all forget about Drew Stanton... that's right... learn it and remember it. Quinn and Stanton will be the top quarterbacks in next year's draft. I like Troy Smith also he's a much better passer than Vince Young and just as elusive.

I know he will start at the beginning of the season, but I honestly see him getting benched. It's a shame that his family name carries that kind of weight, but it does.

Boy...this thread sure got hijacked.
