There aren't many teams in the league that tie up a ton of money on more than one OL. The Seahawks are a good example. They had two great OL in Walter Jones and Hutchinson. They know what those two combined to do for them. The Vikings come in and offer Hutchinson the biggest contract for a guard ever. The Seahawks let him go, but sign Vikings WR Burlenson to the same years/money that Hutchinson got. That says to me they value more adding a skill player that can put points on the board over a Pro-Bowl OL, and that they think he's replaceable. Whether everyone agrees with that, I don't know, but the coach that made the decision has been to more Super Bowls than our Saints have won playoff games. As good as Bentley is, I wouldn't want to see us tie up over 5 million a year in him. A tackle like Ferguson, yes. When it comes time for the Jets to decide which to keep it'll be Ferguson. After all they just let a guy go who went to Hawaii every year for them at center in Mawae. We do have some other needs, but the name of the game is to put up more points than the other team and Bush can do that in ways that almost no one else in the league can. |

I see where you are coming from Jeremy. One thing I've always thought is that you can teach oline. Look at the Broncos, they scheme real well with their oline and year in and year out they are one of the best lines. You take each Bronco olineman individually and they aren't that great, but they play together and their coaches have great schemes. You can't teach what Reggie Bush and other skill players do. You can't teach a guy to juke a player out or take a play to the house the way Reggie does.

So far... great second day guys. I'm stoked! A OT who's probably going to be moved inside to guard and a another DE. We can never have enough of those guys. Yes!
Orien Harris to Pittsburg... no comment. Did everyone just see how ESPN was talking about how Pittsburg always have good drafts and they have excellent scouts? When was the last time we had a rave review? |

I must say that this has been a typical draft for me as a Saints fan. You know...throwing sh** around & yelling at the T.V. If I had any faith in the new regime, it is now gone. WTF? Besides the Bush pick, our draft sucked a**. Let's review: We have a chance at Winston Justice or Marcus McNeil at #34 & we trade down to get Jeff Faine (Stinchcomb part deux) & we use the pick at #43 on Roman Harper? Hello...Ko Simpson in the later rounds. WTF? Then we have a shot at Max Jeanne-Gilles, Orien Harris, or Oshinudo (DT-Stanford) & we trade down again to pick up Jahri Evans. Who???? This guy would have been there in the 5th or 6th! Then we pick up Rob Ninkovich (a special team DE at best) in the 5th. I liked the Mike Haas pick in the 6th. He has great hands & is a solid possession guy, but I would have preferred Marques Colston WR-Hofstra if we were going to go receiver. Hands are great & he's 6'5"-225 lbs. And Josh Lay? They meant Josh "Lay Down In Coverage." I could never give this draft a thumbs up. Instead I give it & our FO the finger for their piss poor talent scouting.

I'm with Ghandi about this weekend.
I fear for WhoDi's health after some of the bonehead moves we've made. |
