I know I an not in the draft or anything, but it does interest me. Was there an explanation on the Packers pick, Hall?
|
Why would the redskins draft Quinn when they invested so much into jason campbell?
|
16 Green Bay Packers - Leon Hall, CB, 5'11", 193 lbs, 4.50, Michigan
The Packers have two guys over 30 starting at cornerback, and one of them isn’t happy with his contract. Not to mention, finishing near the bottom of the league, in pass defense. This would be a great start, to building a play off ready defense, considering, for the most part, the defensive side of the ball has been what's keeping them out of it. Hall is physical enough to play with the big receivers, yet quick and able enough to cover the quick receivers. Excels in zone coverage, and is very good at man-to-man. He's a smart and very fluid athlete without a major hole in his game. Hall can come up and support the run well and is an excellent blizter. Being paired up with Walt Harris, should make the Packers, a more formidable defensive secondary. saintpaul25 |

I was just wondering, Woodson and Harris are suitable and if they sign a RB like Rhodes, I could see them going D. As of right now, Lynch would be a good pick up to get that running game going
|
I did my research folks. Two out of the three mocks I confirmed with, agreed with me, on CB, being their pick. Not Hall, because they had him going way before the 16th pick, but a CB either way. Now, I did mean Al Harris, which I put in an immediate follow up post, and he didn't resign till after I made that pick, but I still would have made it, considering that Woodson, has not been the same player since leaving Oakland. I stand by my pick.

20 New York Giants - Reggie Nelson S 6'1 193 Florida
Reggie Nelson is an attacking safety with big time playmaking ability. He flies around the football field and is aggressive in every facet of the game. Nelson is tough and plays bigger than his wiry frame indicates. He delivers big hits and isn’t afraid to lend help in support. Nelson’s biggest impact comes with his ability to make plays on the football. He has a nose for the ball, and really goes after the ball when it is in the air. He is a great athlete and shows the speed to run plays down and keep up down the field in coverage. The Gaints now have the play maker at S that they have not had for years. pakowitz |
Allsaints is in the house. lets get it moving
|
Allsaints has left the house and no responce to PM so here is the pick
21. Denver Broncos - Adam Carriker, DE, 6-6, 295, 4.88, Nebraska Mike Shanahan is still trying to make his line of ex-Browns work, but it's just not happening. Having a liability like that up front puts undue pressure on what are very good linebacking and secondary corps. While the addition of Elvis Dumervil provided an unexpected boost in situational pass rushing, Denver needs a talented athlete to provide pressure every down.Carriker has an impressive combination of size, strength and agility which allows him to apply pressure to the quarterback, while taking on multiple blockers. He added more than 10 pounds of muscle to his 6-6 frame increasing his weight to 295 pounds. While adding the weight, Carriker improved his 10 and 40-yard dash times. His stature could allow Carriker to move inside to tackle on passing downs if needed. Has an incredible motor. Used Mobile and the Senior Bowl to show he isn't a one-dimensional or one-set (3-4) player. Denver needs to get younger along the edges and finding a large prospect like Carriker is a steal Allsaints |
Papz is on the clock. I gave him the cowboys

we need to start making our picks.

22 Dallas Cowboys - Michael Griffin, S, 5-11, 195, 4.48
Griffin is a prototypical NFL cover safety. He has excellent ball skills for the position and good recovery speed with good leaping ability, allowing him to make plays on the ball in deep coverage. Taking the correct path to the ball carrier, allows him to play faster than his timed speed and he is a solid, willing tackler. With above-average agility and acceleration for a free safety allows him the ability to cover slot receivers in man-to-man. Add to this is an excellent special teams player, showing the same quality of play at safety and combine that with fantastic timing and instincts, you have numerous blocked punts. Hagan714-Papz |

23 Kansas City Chiefs - Sidney Rice, WR, 6-3, 195, 4.55, S. Carolina
In my mind, Rice is one of the more underrated wide receivers, maybe even overall players, in the draft. You know that you're doing something right when a sophomore season of 72 catches and 10 touchdowns is considered a disappointment. Rice has ideal height and elite body control and ball skills. If he'd have been playing with a real quarterback last season he could have caught 100 passes. Hagan714-pakowitz papz you got baltimore |
Ok.
|
24. New England Patriots Charles Johnson DE 6'2" 271 4.75
Johnson's potential is somewhat limited by his below-average height and pedestrian top-end speed. However, he is a powerful and quick defensive end with good toughness versus the run and a relentless approach as a pass rusher. Maybe a transition player DE/LB. He is a Bellicheck player with his raw talent and being undersized. |

25 New York Jets - Anthony Spencer, DE/LB, 6-3, 262, 4.70, Purdue
Jonathan Abraham's pass rush hasn't been adequately replaced, and a third-down pass rusher would be a big addition. Spencer is a pass rush extraordinaire. Makes up ground in a hurry and always is near the ball. High motor and plays at 110%. At this point looks to be a 4-3 end, but will workout as a linebacker as well. 2006 Team MVP and All Big 10 selection, Spencer had his coming out party in 2006 wreaking havoc in backfields. BlackandBlue |
With the 26th selection, The Eagles choose Troy Smith QB Ohio State. 6'1, 215. With McNabb's health and Garcia's availablity in question, Smith is an ideal choice for the Eagles. The Heisman trophy winner is unafraid, dangerous on the run and has an accurate, strong arm. If Troy Smith can prove to be a great pro quarterback, he's definately heir to the throne.
|
the pseudo matt millen is scratching his head over the selection. I like Troy Smith as a mid to late 2nd rounder
|
To be honest, Smith was my 3rd QB choice. Russell and Quinn were already taken, but he's solid. IMO better than the others remaining
|
If you have both Garcia and McNabb why would ya? and if Garcia wants a new job then I wouldn't think this to be a bad move.
|
If we don't sign a FA CB this is our guy:
Name: Aaron Ross College: Texas Number: 31 Height: 6-1 Weight: 192 Position: CB Pos2: KR Class/Draft Year: Sr/2007 40 Time: 4.46 40 Low: 4.42 40 High: 4.49 |
I agree but man that was a reach. but I doubt he would have made through the second for them to pick him. or maybe he would. safer is better than sorry I guess.
|
I'm not as high on Ross as so many people are... and I mean a lot. Every board I come across people are in love with him. I like Houston better and maybe perhaps Merriweather at corner. He showed in the Senior Bowl he can play the position well. I would rather us wait until the third and select the best available corner left... hopefully a Bennett or Weddle.
|
Weddle i am having touches of man love with the kid. but we would have to reach in the second or move into the top of the 3rd to get him. CB/S/KR/holder. would love the pick. Even in the second if Jackson was gone.
