Re: Eagles release Pro Bowl LB Trotter....
If Trotter comes to the Saints he's instanly the best MLB on the roster. His know how would make up for any athletic short comings. He would add a Nastiness to a defense the badly needs it. He would be a great leader on a defense that lacks leadership at the position. He would probably make Fujita a pro bowler by how he would funnel running backs into tackling lanes. It would make us very deeep at a position that I think we're very weak at. It would be a great move. Even though I don't think it would happen.
Jerimiah Trotter is a throw-back run stopping linebacker. His attitude alone would be a great addition to this team. |
The best conerback tandem in the league reside in the N.O.

Trotter from 2004 - 2005 would be a Pro-Bowl MLB run-stopping machine for us. Some of you guys might be right, that bringing him in would instantly make him the best and most experienced MLB on the roster, but would it be good for the team and the chemistry? I don't see Payton pulling the trigger on this one. |

Bring Trortter In?
Im not sure the saints need the man, he isnt old by any means, he is only 30 if I recall right, so there has to be something other than the notion that he is simply too old for the game of football. I think he is a year or two younger than Porter who just signed a stupid contract with MIAMI. I also remember reading Philly told him its time for him to retire, so more is going on with this, than it seems |

Re: Eagles release Pro Bowl LB Trotter....
Here is the thing that really worries me...the Eagles have been hands down the best team in the league over the last 5 or 6 years at keeping the right players. They always lock up their young guys long term, they always know what type of players to target in free agency, and they never second guess themselves when they let someone go. So for the Eagles to choose to go with Omar Gaither over Jeremiah Trotter, then it means something. I cant think of one person that they let go that went on and even matched his numbers with a different team.

Thats because there isnt one Bubba, Reid seems to have a sense of who to let go, who to bring in, and how to improve his team.

If the Eagles feel that they can get production from a younger player or close to the vet, than they just release or let the veteran player walk. Case in point, take Hollis Thomas for example. They traded Thomas in favor of a younger less expensive player, but Hollis proved to be a very important player in our run last year, a run that included two victories over the Eagles. As far as a player during better after leaving the Philadelphia just look at Hollis numbers.

And I believe if the Saints were to sign Jeremiah Trotter they would get the same type of production at the MLB position as they got from Thomas at the DT position. |

Can you imagine Philly coming here to face Dhani, Mark, Hollis and Trotter. Heaven forbid we picked up Corey Simon whom I think has already been picked up, not sure. We would beat Philly like they stole something. Vinegar in the veins that day.
