By pointing out Faine's problems as a center this year, doesn't mean I don't think we can upgrade the position. He played well last year, no doubt. It's a "what have you done for me lately" league and Faine really hasn't done much lately. Notice who was one of the guys blocking down field for Pierre when he scored, Goodwin. All I care about is winning and we won 2 in a row and I am thankful for that. I am happy with Thomas playing corner, Mare kicking, the whole team....as long as we keep winning. I don't care how we do it. Doesn't mean that I won't be calling for upgrades in the offseason though.

Now, to say that I or any of you try this game at their level, it's impossible. They are Pros, the best of the best, but some aren't as good as others. It's really pointless to even bring up such a ridiculous statement. We are the best fans in the world, fellas. Might even be the most brutal to our players and coaches. When you expect you team to make the playoffs and go deep into the playoffs and they start out 0-4, then the sh*t hits the fan. I have been optimistic the whole time and I still am, but let's be honest with ourselves, this team has played well below par. We are gradually improving and I think the defense has been outstanding lately. Now if they can hold on until the offense improves, then we'll have something. Right now we are a 2-4 team on the rise and I hope it continues.

I am not a big fan of Faine, never was, along with a few other players on this club. As I am sure some of you feel a certain way about other players. This whole argument started with a Faine/Bentley comparison and I think the majority of us agree, even Euph. Now let's move on and kick some ass out there in fruitcake land.
"That is how you debate!" Great post.

...and Euph, that's a sexy avatar you got there.

Re: Jeff Faine

Actually, I think they do select Pro Bowl alternates just in case someone drops out or has surgery or what not.
Not the fans... the players and coaches.

I know it doesn't mean he is a Pro Bowler.
So if a player goes to the Pro Bowl as an alternate... it doesn't mean they're a Pro Bowler. Hmmm... do I really need to elaborate?

By pointing out Faine's problems as a center this year, doesn't mean I don't think we can upgrade the position.
Every position every offseason is upgradeable. It's not like we're working with Kruetz, Brady, and LT.

He played well last year, no doubt. It's a "what have you done for me lately" league and Faine really hasn't done much lately.
He's helped this team to 2 wins in the last 3 games... in which we allowed 0 sacks.

Notice who was one of the guys blocking down field for Pierre when he scored, Goodwin.
Good for him... as I hope he can continue to open holes. It certainly will lessen the loss of Faine.

All I care about is winning and we won 2 in a row and I am thankful for that. I am happy with Thomas playing corner, Mare kicking, the whole team....as long as we keep winning. I don't care how we do it.
I'm sure we all feel the same way.

Doesn't mean that I won't be calling for upgrades in the offseason though.
If we don't make it to the Superbowl, everyone will be calling for upgrades.

Did I say anything about alternates going or actually suiting up to the Pro Bowl? No, I did not.

Productive Saints QB still looking for respect

They are going to come after Aaron Brooks on Sunday. If Warren Sapp, Simeon Rice and Anthony McFarland get their hands on the Saints quarterback, they are going to twist him into a pretzel.

But if they are out to hurt Brooks, they are wasting their time. That already has been done. Physically Brooks is okay. It's his feelings that are battered and bruised.

Instead of relishing his status as arguably the Saints' most productive quarterback ever, Brooks enters Sunday's opener against Tampa Bay soured by a protracted contract dispute and fan criticism that pops up every season.

If he weren't putting up big numbers season after season, Brooks would understand. But the Saints offense had two of its best efforts the past two seasons under Brooks, ranking in the league's top 10 both times.

Despite the team's losing record in 2001, Brooks was the only quarterback in the league to throw for more than 3,500 yards, rush for more than 350 and throw 26 touchdowns, earning an alternate spot on the NFC Pro Bowl squad. His 4,190 total yards are the most in team history.

Bucs: Productive Saints QB still looking for respect

you can read the rest of the article with the link provided. Notice how they said Brooks earned a spot on the NFC PB roster as an alternate? Did he suit up? No. Did he play? No
Was he a Pro Bowler? hell no.....case clased

Umm... case closed?

Did you read what I wrote?

So if a player goes to the Pro Bowl as an alternate... it doesn't mean they're a Pro Bowler. Hmmm... do I really need to elaborate?
So you proved me wrong where exactly?

And thanks for the article... I knew I wasn't mistaken when I said he was a Pro Bowl alternate in another thread.

So you are saying all alternates "go" to the Pro Bowl?

Re: Jeff Faine

I'll try that one paragraph again since I seem to have misinterpreted what you meant...

Actually, I think they do select Pro Bowl alternates just in case someone drops out or has surgery or what not.
Duh.

I know it doesn't mean he is a Pro Bowler.
If he goes, isn't he a Pro Bowler?

I am wrong on one thing I have to admit... he wasn't a Pro Bowler. He was a Pro Bowl alternate. My mistake which essentially means he sucks.

So you are saying all alternates "go" to the Pro Bowl?
I don't know... did I say that? I don't see myself saying that anywhere... but, feel free to post it if you find it. I'll glady eat the crow.

2001 Pro Bowl rosters - pro-football-reference.com

Check out the link, look for any year's Pro Bowl roster. The link is the 2001 roster, the same year Brooks was selected as an alternate. Now, they have four quarterbacks listed. Where is Brooks? Nowhere to be found. As I was saying earlier, just because a player was "selected" as an alternate, does not mean that he was a Pro Bowler. Plain and simple.
