Re: Let's hope Saints' moves turn out as good as they l
First of all, know one could have guessed that 1st Down David was going to be such a bust. I doubt that Brian Simmons was playing better than Mark Simoneau or he would have been on the field more. Jonathan Vilma might not work out, but odds are that he will and we will be better for it. Vilma is a "Playmaker" and was a very sought after LB in free agency. Was Drew Brees worth the risk? I doubt that Gay is penciled in a starter, however, he will have his opportunity to try in camp. McCray did pretty well for the Jags, he isn't going to start, he is only going to be in a rotation with Smith and Grant. Know one can tell what impact a new player will have after signing him. I think the team is obviously committed to shoring up a pretty bad defense. I'm not worried about the defense. I think it will be addressed in the draft as well. Besides not getting Asante Samuel, who else did this team miss as far a free agent defensive players?

according to your logic, "if he was this good...he would've been playing", Pierre Thomas would've started every game. (see: multiple flashes of brilliance throughout the year) Apparently the fans were not as stupid as the coaches thought. If WE could see that the kid was good, wtf were they waiting for to throw him in the game? Simmons is better than Simoneau - bank on it. Drew Brees was a matter of chance. It was simply a gamble that paid off. But as you can see, even Brees can be up and down. 2007 season was forgettable. We beat the odds 1 time with Brees and now the front office thinks it's essential to gamble every year, you cannot beat the odds every roll of the dice my friend. I hope Vilma DOES work out, but I have my doubts. Vilma was a beast his first 2 years, what has he done lately? Briggs, Zach Thomas, Adalius Thomas a year ago, Hamlin, Samuels, Deon Grant, you mean to tell me we couldn't cough up enough coin to get ONE of these proven guys? Oh i forgot, they aren't injured, nor cheap enough. Let's just hope you're right and we address the defense more in the draft. |
