this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; That's it? Definitely thought it'd be way more than that....

I don't believe the Saints have seen a defense like the Colts at all this season. The Colts are by far the fastest D in the NFL and find a way to make plays.

We know you have a good D, but don't act like it's in some higher and totally different category than some of the excellent defenses our team has faced this year. Let's face it, the Colts do not have the best D in football nor the best running game. You are heavily reliant on Peyton Manning to win. It is because of him and not your defense that the Colts are a great team.

Both fans need to understand that this game isn't going to be won on a message board. Saying that the Vikings were better on offense and defense than the Colts and the Saints beat them will not guarantee the Saints beating the Colts. Saying that the Colts scored 30 against the #1 defense in the league will not guarantee they score more against a lower ranked defense. The game will be won by the team that executes better and makes fewer mistakes on February 7th and both teams have a shot to do that. |

Runing against us won't happen, but as you saw in the game vs. the Jets and other teams, you can throw against us. The key will be how much presure we can get on breeze and causing him to hurry his throw.

I would disagree, the Cards offense is very similar to the Saints in that it is a pass first, run second offense with it's tops weapons being in it's passing game.

My guess is that we'll dare the Saints to run on us and make them drive the field slowly. If you're a good running team, it's not hard to get 5-10 yard runs against us but it's hard to drive the entire field that way because one negative play or one penalty and you're in a passing situation. The Saints, unlike the Ravens or Jets, will be more than comfortable in those passing situations. We will need Freeney and Mathis to hurry, or sack, Brees and not let him get comfortable and in a rhythm.
This is a totally different beast. We're not trying to shut down a one-dimensional offense anymore and we're not at home. |
