Last week we checked out how the Saints should deal with Pierre Thomas, Mike Bell, and Lance Moore. This week begins by checking out the other wide receiver stepping into the world of free agency and that's Courtney Roby.

Roby is technically listed as a wide receiver on the roster even though it is very rare that he is on the field with the rest of the offense. Roby's most talented area is on special teams where he excels as a return man and on coverage.

Here's the rest of the article:

What should the Saints offer Courtney Roby?

I really am curious (now that I've got the title right for my articles) as to what everyone thinks these restricted free agents should get.

I know he got caught from behind, but someone help me out here...when was the last decent kick returner the Saints had??

I was racking my brain trying to think of who we last had that was decent back there besides Michael Lewis. Or was he the last good one?

danny, i'm not knocking roby at all, i want him back. like you said who else besides lewis can we remember that did as much. p. thomas has done a good job replacing roby when he was banged up. i'm saying if he wants a ton of money then we may have to go via the draft for a returner. but would like to see 1 more year out of him at our price.

Re: Free Agent Series: What should the Saints offer Courtney Roby?

Mel Gray was great and I liked Morton too. Just was thinking at least in the last six or seven years, we've been kind of struggling in that department except for Lewis.

And St. Thomas, I know what you're saying...just would hate to see any of these players like Roby or even Lance Moore get swelled heads and think they are worth more than what they have shown so far. I'd love to have them back, but not if it means breaking the bank over them.
