New OT Rule

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; They call ties "sister kissers" for a reason. Ties are awful. I don't want to watch a sports matchup without a winner and loser. Why play the game? What does a tie establish? A tie is vanilla. No real outcome. ...

College OT stinks. They change the rules of the game during OT .

Re: New OT Rule

Let's see you're on your own 10 the QB drops back and heaves it to the opponents 20 and there is interference. Reward the defense twice, once for stopping the pass and second for being penalized only 15 yards. I like the NFL rule better.

Re: New OT Rule

Both teams do not have to touch the ball if the rule changes. Remember the second half on side kick? What happens then? Only one team had the ball. That's not FAIR? FAIR!!!? FAIR!!!? the WR runs a 4.3 and the CB a 4.5 that's not FAIR. Put extra weight on the faster guys so they all run the same speed. And on and on and on and on...........................

Personally, I don't think they are going to want to change it and make the games even longer than they are now. It all comes down to the flip of a coin, 50/50. How can you get more fair than that?
It's not even a flip of the coin. Stats say that the team that wins the coin toss, for overtime, only wins about 55% of the time. That's pretty damn even, and the saint-vikings overtime game was the most watched game all year. In my opinion, that means leave the damn rules as they are!
