It is the Final 4 rule you need to worry about.

We had to loose a Free Agent (Fujita) to gain Alex Brown. We could not get Brown for more than we paid Fujita. Unless we loose another Free Agent, we are done.

Read Final Four rules:

NFLLabor.com Frequently Asked Questions ? Tender and ?Final Eight? Rules

I call that significantly restricted.
First, Brown acquisition had nothing to do with the rule. Jimmy Wilkerson did.

Second, Deadline Set for "Final 8" Rule - Gang Green Nation

Third, just trying to provide another perspective which is what you asked for in the first place.

Lastly, you have no reference point if the Saints have done anything to improve their run defense to date. They have not played one game to date with the current roster or whom they will enter the first game of the season with on D.

Good luck. Out.

Re: Stop the Run!

I agree with X in his concern for stopping the run. That would keep teams in 3rd and long situations, perfect for the way we play defense. But I still have the scars from the number of 3rd and longs that were converted on us last season. 3rd and 9's, 3rd and 13's, 3rd and 17's: it was ugly sometimes. We were 13-3 and could have easily been 15-1, but were 3-0 when it counted. We didn't do that bad of a job, and we can definitely do better this year. I thought that the heavy in the draft should have fallen 4-2 on the defensive side of the ball, but what do I know? We still have a ton of unsigned players that may give us an opportunity to sure up some of our holes if they are signed away. I kinda trust those guys (FO) at his point to know what they are doing.

every other team is getting better.....if we stay stagnant and get complacent then we wont get better and wont have any chance of repeating this year

Intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer.

100% Agreed! My boyfriend and I were discussing this at dinner the other night. Our biggest weakness last year was stopping the run.

Our defense was rated what, 26th last year? That's not good enough for a #1 rated offense. The FO needs to take notice if they want a repeat.

I'm not doubting their abilities to get us quality talent, I just want them to stop sitting on their hands and get something done already! OTAs are right around the corner.

According to one oddsmaker, the NFL has no clear-cut Super Bowl favorite in 2010.

Online wagering site Bodog.com has set its early lines for teams winning Super Bowl 45, and it installs the Colts, last season’s runner-up, as the top choice, at 8-1. The champion Saints are next at 9-1.

On the other end, fans of the biggest long shots—the Rams, Bucs and Bills—can back their teams at 100-1.

Seems like they are putting their money (odds) where their beliefs are!

These guys have no more information than any of us!

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over, over, and over again...and expecting a different outcome!
