The NFL is full of great coaches who aren\'t winning consistently, and mediocre coaches who win. Look at Dick Jauron. Two years ago: 13-3. Last year: 4-12 with mostly the same players. Performance is not as strongly correlated to ability as most people think.
I was actually thinking of them as mediocre coaches who have had successful years. But my main point was that there are many reasons why teams are successful or not, and you can\'t base your evaluation of the coach solely on the team\'s win-loss record.

WhoDat-- sorry I made you waste all those keytaps on responding to what you thought I said.

Great, so you\'re saying that the sun shines on every dog\'s a$$ some day. Enter the 2000 New Orleans Saints. If you count out Callahan\'s SB and the 13-3 Bears, then you certainly have to count out the 10-6 playoff game winning Saints. So that makes Haslett look even worse. You\'re not hepling your cause buddy.

Leave it to Billy to jump ship though! LMAO. Kidding B, kidding.

Will we have a new HC?

Mr. Clayton, on ESPN radio this morning was rating how \"hot\" the hot seat is for various coaches around the league. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being hot and 1 being safe. When asked about Haz, he said \"2\"...\"solid\"...I\'ll take his word for it over the over-zealous posters in here...you know, the ones NOT collecting a paycheck from the NFL or otherwise getting paid to observe it.

Can this thread die now...please.

Read my posts Saintfan. I said in just about every one of them that I am a realist, and thus, I understand that the odds of Haslett getting fired are very low, b/c the entire world will still believe his excuses yet another time around. That doesn\'t mean that he doesn\'t deserve to get the boot - even if he never gets it.

LOL--Thanks, B&B. However, I guess I still haven\'t made my point clear.

I\'m not trying to equate Haslett with Jauron and Callahan. I\'m just trying to say sometimes good coaches have bad years and bad coaches have good years, so you can\'t give the coach all the credit or all the blame (even though yes, he is ultimately responsible). My position on Haslett is that he has done a good job with a team that has enough talent to play well, but has not had enough leadership from among the players. Here\'s what I said earlier:
I don\'t believe the coach can do it on his own.
We don\'t need to fire Haslett; we need a leader to step up from among the players.
That\'s my last post on this thread. If I haven\'t made my point by now, I\'m never going to. This thread has gone on long enough anyway.

We can\'t talk about Haz being fired, we can\'t talk about Brooks being benched, and Swampy\'s not around anymore to laugh at.
Damn what am I going to do for the rest of the day. Don\'t tell me that I should actually start doing my work
