The free agent suits along with these franchise tag law suits set the ground work for the current negotiations and agreement. When/if the suits settle, the rulings will negate or uphold past and new agreement details. If the agreement comes first, pressure will increase for Drew/Manning and the other plantiffs to drop their suit to allow the CBA to stand. These suits are not just about Drew and the other named players, these rulings will set a precedent for all future players that face the same issue and will shape mgmt/player negotiations going forward. The players feel that being franchise tagged, puts them at a disadvantage. Owners love the tag - they can play games with the money, shuffle a few contracts around and avoid cap troubles until next season. Players hate it - it postpones potential paydays that could easily be affected by injury in the current tagged season. Drew is in the catbird seat. He's not going anywhere. At least I hope not.
