this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I think I am going to start putting "I'm being Sarcastic" after I make those kinda jokes. I don't think everyone can read my sense of humor at times....

To offer a take on the original question kinda seriously...I don't think it 's really a question of Brees "wanting out." That's not the right way to look at it. I honestly think, all along, that his agent's plan has been for Peyton Manning to get his new contract and become the highest paid player in professional football, ever. And then Drew comes along a year later and tops Peyton's deal, same agent. Think about it: it's like a sports agent's version of back to back Super Bowls. They've pretty much said that's the goal with Peyton, quite openly -- his agent wants Peyton to be the highest paid player ever, so bidding starts at $1 more than whatever the previous biggest contract ever was. And then Drew is gonna come along behind it, with a slew of hype and speculation, and gets HIS mega deal. See how it works?
I think that's really the plan here. As far as WHERE that deal for Drew happens, I don't think Drew and his agent really care that much one way or the other, whether it's the Saints or the Cowboys or whoever. But I'm predicting it right now, regardless of whether Drew stays or goes, his contract negotiations and speculation in the media next year are constantly going to have that "highest paid player" hype attached to it, that is the target. But to say "he wants out" is looking at it the wrong way. He wants money. That's what he wants. |

No offense to Drew, but if anybody deserves the top dollar, it's Peyton.
