Jay Glazer on FoxSports.com reports via twitter:
I'm reporting the Saints and Fins have worked out terms of a trade for RB Reggie Bush, contingent on Bush agreeing to a new contract with the Miami Dolphins... Jay_Glazer Jay Glazer Bush's agent Joel Segal negotiating w Dolphins tonight. It also hinges upon Bush taking deal and not deciding to stick w NO at reduced rate Twitter Account Here The last time RB Reggie Bush played in Miami, he won a Super Bowl. The Dolphins hope he can provide a similar impact for their franchise.RB Reggie Bush had 63 yards from scrimmage in the Saints' Super Bowl XLIV victory. The Saints have agreed to trade the No. 2 pick of the 2006 draft to the Dolphins, pending Bush's agreement to a renegotiated contract with Miami. He is scheduled to make $11.8 million in the final season of his rookie deal, a very hefty payout considering his propensity for injury and the fact he's not an every-down back. FOXSports' Jay Glazer first broke the potential Bush deal early Thursday morning. Full article here. Dolphins to conditionally acquire Bush from Saints - The Huddle - USATODAY.com |
Why would he sign a new contract to be traded? Why not just force the Saints to cut him by refusing to restructure? Anyhow what do you think we get? Ill be shocked if we get anything more than a 4th.
|
A 4th would be unbelievable. I wouldn't mind a LB or Safety for that matter.
What's best is he's out of the division and conference. :o |

Saints, Dolphins agree to terms on Reggie Bush trade
http://profootballta...gie-bush-trade/ Posted by Mike Florio on July 28, 2011, 1:32 AM EDT For the second time in two days, a deal has been worked out for a high-profile player. And, for the second time in two days, the trade now hinges on the player working out an acceptable deal with his new team. Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that the Saints have agreed to the terms of a trade that would send running back Reggie Bush to the Dolphins. The deal hinges on the Dolphins working out an acceptable contract with Bush. Due to earn a base salary of $11.8 million in 2011, Bush will have to take a pay cut. (Of course, if he agrees to a long-term deal with the Dolphins, he could actually pocket $11.8 million in salary and bonuses in 2011, or more.) There’s also a chance that Bush will stay put in New Orleans, if he agrees to accept a reduced rate of pay. The move makes plenty of sense for the Saints, who would have had no choice but to cut Bush ASAP. If he tears an ACL or busts an Achilles’ tendon in training camp, New Orleans will owe him the full $11.8 million. Also, by trading him the Saints will be able to ensure that he ended up out of their division — and out of their conference. In the end, Bush’s place of employment for 2011 will come down to whether he wants to stay with the Saints or move on. Lately, he has been saying all the right things about New Orleans. His chance to prove that he means it has now arrived. |

4)Mr Enigma
Brad Smith (NYJ) - WR/KR/QB/RB Ok most people probably do not see the Jets much in New Orleans. Living in Boston I watch the Jets and the Giants way more than I wish I had too. This guy is is nothing more than on of the best athletes I have seen play football. To bad he has never worked on anyone position. I have to throw him in the mix because … well I like everything I have seen from him on the field. Once again KR abilities that saints dearly miss. http://blackandgold.com/blogs/hagan7...a-options.html ok we loss speed big time. here is my replacement pick up if this deal goes through. |
Still wish he would reconsider and take the pay cut to stay in NOLA. Miami can't be offering him that much.
|
Sounds like a Win-Win for the Saints actually..
I like what could turn out for us here, I don't see any reason why Bush would try to hurt the Saints who gave him his ring and a chance to be a superstar.. his star has faded.. Saints will have a huge arsenal to replace Reggie bush with ease, i like the fact it's not in the division. |
It's all about money for Reggie just as it would be for 99% of you out there. In fact...it has to be more about money for Reggie than any of us normal working stiffs. What's the average career for an NFL RB?
Now...it would be a real story if Reggie did stay in NO for less money. I think the best we can hope for now is that Reggie hooks up with us in the twilight of his career just so he can end his career as a Saint. |
When he has to play in the cold @ Buffalo, Jets and New England, I hope he asks himself. "What was I thinking?"
|
We could get there DE Cameron wake from them, that dudes a beast!
|
Kind of quick on the Bye Bye trigger.
I still think N.O. is the best place for Reggie's talents but... If they give him that 11 mil as a signing bonus and upwards of 5 mil a year, he has to pocket that money. I'm pretty sure we are not going to go above 3 or 4 per year. |
Sorry to see him go, but there is a lot of other talent that is better at running downhill, picking up the blitz and can catch the ball 95% as well. His yards per touch were not all that impressive and his propensity for the untimely big mistake were just too hard to watch.
|
Reggie and Ricky together..... All they need is JaMarcus Russell and they can be in Guinness for the most over paid, over hyped backfield in history. Maybe the heaviest too.

Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald confirms that Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland spent "much of the night" working on a trade for Reggie Bush.
The deal is contingent on contract terms; the Fins and Saints have agreed on compensation. Ireland ultimately opted to "sleep on it," after a long day of work. His decision is coming this morning. The Saints were almost certain to release Bush by the end of this week, so we suspect they're willing to accept a late-round pick. A fifth-rounder in 2012 seems about right; it was the going rate for disappointing playmakers like Ted Ginn and (at the time) Santonio Holmes last offseason. dang.... :(

Who will Payton get to use as a decoy in our offense now. How much is Darren Sproles asking for I would mind seeing him in Black and Gold.
|
That's good news actually. We get something in return for an oft injured player who openly stated he would rather play on grass. Does Miami have a good LB we could use? Do we want Vontae?

I am not sure this hurts that much. How much does it save us under the cap? |
I'd take a 5th round pick in a heartbeat for Reggie. Look, I love the idea of Reggie and what he can do for this offense... but he's rarely healthy, rarely playing with his head in the game, and often making a crippling mistake (mostly fumbling the ball, especially on punt returns). If we can work something out for a much reduced salary in 2011, I wouldn't mind seeing him in black and gold this year... but if we can get something for him?!? Yes please.
|
Kind'a makes me wonder why the Dolphins just didn't wait and not have to give up anything to get Reggie. Perhaps the other meat eaters show up to feed once he gets cut from our roster.

Wow...I feel like I'm the only fan here that would like to see Reggie stay. I would rather him stay at a reduced rate then see him leave.
|
Maybe this convinced them to go out and acquire him! ... ironically against them...

Whoever we set in motion at WR or shift to the outside either from our TE spot or RB will be the "decoy". Fake reverses, fake pitches, swing passes, etc. nothing in our offensive arsenal will change because our "decoy" isn't here anymore. Sproles looks like a favorite to sign with the Rams right now. Normand... a lot of fans would like him to return at a reduced rate. However, our reduced rate isn't the same as his reduced rate making it best for both parties to part ways. If this deal goes through, I'm glad we got some compensation instead of flat out cutting him. |
It's been fun Reggie.
|
I just heard he agreed to a two year deal...

Reggie's role continued to diminish here until it was obvious that he just didn't fit anymore. He was always a class act, helped us win a Superbowl, and worked hard so I wish him nothing but the best.

Source: Reggie Bush, Dolphins agree
The final hurdle to a trade between the Saints and Dolphins was cleared when running back Reggie Bush reached agreement with Miami on a new two-year contract, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Thursday. New Orleans and Miami had agreed to a trade if and when Bush agreed to a new contract. The Dolphins and Joel Segal, Bush's agent, worked into the early-morning hours to produce the needed agreement. Bush will fly to Miami at some point and sign his contract to make the trade official. New Orleans Saints' Reggie Bush agrees to contract with Miami Dolphins, source says - ESPN |
