He took the roster spot that was vacated when the Saints released offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb on Monday. The Saints are a bit thin at tailback with Chris Ivory and Joique Bell both sidelined by injuries.

Think that pretty much explains it, first game of the preseason and we already have injuries...

In the media briefing after practice yesterday, Coach Payton mentioned Cobbs will be wearing jersey #44. Hope the dude does justice to my favorite number, and if so, maybe he will be good enough to make the team and give us another backfield weapon.

I hope they at least considered bringing in Hamilton 'cos that would've been the right thing to do.

I know what you are saying but I don't think the coaching staff is overly concerned with "doing the right thing" as much as putting a winning team on the field.
