Jake lights up the Saints boards
While with the Admirals, Delhomme served as backup to Kurt Warner and completed just 15 of 47 passes for 247 yards.
A year later, Delhomme played a much bigger role as he led the Galaxy to World Bowl glory, forming one half of Frankfurt\'s \'double-headed quarterback monster\' alongside Pat Barnes. http://www.nfleurope.com/news/2003/07212003_lede.html Still can\'t answer the question eh 08? |

Jake lights up the Saints boards
Stats aside, Jake just has the \"John Elway\" type of quality of love for the game. That has helped him more than anything this year, I think.
Being good or great doesn\'t mean that much as a Qb. What matters is your surrounding players and your luck. Everyone seems to recognize Dilfer as a good QB, but not great, and he won a superbowl. Then you can take a Qb that most recognize as great, such as Elway, and even he was susceptible to having 5-11 seasons. NFL football, being the ultimate team game, naturally keeps any one player from making or breaking a team\'s season. But Jake is taking full advantage of what he\'s been dealt this year and he should be commended for that. |

Jake lights up the Saints boards
ScottyRo --
Jake has done well in the role he is asked to play. Has he done incredible things that is directly responsible for the Panther\'s success? I say he hasn\'t. I think he has done a good job of managing the offense, but, he\'s no where close to being an elite QB. The truth of the matter is, John Fox has put together a team that doesn\'t have to rely on the QB that much. A strong offensive and defensive line, along with, a great running game and special teams, is the blue print for success in Carolina. Now, Jake, to his credit, has made some plays when he had to. Bottom line is that the Carolina\'s record is not an indication of how good, or bad, Jake Delhomme is. |

Jake lights up the Saints boards
Jake failed to impress? Hhmm. So did the guy he backed up... I believe his name is Kurt Warner. He\'s not very good either huh? What\'s he got? Two MVPs, two Super Bowl appearances, a couple of records for yards, TDs, efficiency, etc... So why did it take Warner so long? Why didn\'t Atlanta see Favre\'s potential?
I\'m not sure what your point is Saintfan. What you\'re assuming is that Delhomme didn\'t play b/c he never impressed anyone in the NFL. How do you know that? I\'ve shown you quotes from a GM and Head Coach that say that he is a franchise player or could start a lot of places in the league. Show me ONE quote that says he isn\'t impressive. Maybe other scouts didn\'t pay much attention to an undrafted free agent out of USL until he had been around for a few years. Do you know that\'s NOT the case? I don\'t know if you\'re trying to say that Jake was not good or didn\'t have potential b/c the Saints, and no other team, gave him the chance prior to this year, but if that is your argument it\'s not a very good one. Then that same logic applies to the Kurt Warners of the world, and I don\'t think you want to go there. The opposite is true too - see Ryan Leaf. Bottom line - Haslett f-ed up the Delhomme situation. Why is that so hard to admit? Why is it hard to say that Delhomme has progressed more rapidly than Brooks? |

Jake lights up the Saints boards
When Jake started for the Saints and beat the Dallas Cowboys a few years ago I was upset that he didn\'t get a chance to start for \'em. I didn\'t understand it. There simply MUST be a reason the Saints kept cutting him and at the same time nobody else scooped him up, as is the case when players with known ability get cut for whatever the reason. 08\'s logic is skewed, and if you believe in his little Conspiracy Theory then I\'m on record as saying so is yours. I have never said Jake wasn\'t a good QB. I have nothing against the guy. Please get that through your head and stop trying to turn this into another Delhomme/Brooks debate. That\'s not the point. I will re-state the question as elementary as possible. Let me remind you this has N-O-T-H-I-N-G to do with Brooks, Warner, or any other QB you feel necessary to bring into this debate...this is about JAKE DELHOMME and ONLY Jake Delhomme...PLEASE keep that in mind as you read the question... Why do you think it took Jake Delhomme so long to get his shot? Please, now, don\'t try and justify Jake by stabbing at someone else...me included, ok? 08 quite obviously can\'t answer the question, so since you decided to be his knight in shining armor (again) maybe you can. Go ahead and try. Stop \"assuming\" what you think I mean. I don\'t \"mean\" anything. It\'s just a question that other people in this thread have already attempted to answer. 08 has already proven that he either can\'t or won\'t. How about you? Remember along the way that the question is not designed to take a shot at Delhomme. I acknowledge his simply wonderful play this year. Remember this post is aimed most specifically at 08\'s statement that Jim Haslett, from the time he was the \"D\" coordinator for the Steelers, began conspiring to keep Jake Delhomme off the field even to the detriment of his own coaching career. If you believe that then say so. If you don\'t then say that. I really don\'t care which way you believe. I am, however, quite curious. Stop attacking me and just answer the question already. OK, ready, set, GO! |

I just knew I couldn\'t be the only one.
OK 08...I get that you think it\'s a Conspiracy. I also think that\'s not accurate. You and I will just have to agree to disagree. I do wonder tho why you didn\'t just pick \"A\" (a) the great Jake Delhomme conspiracy theory (b) Jake doesn\'t practice well (c) Cajun Accent (d) other Instead you chose \"D\" and then typed \"square pegs do not go in round holes\". \"A\" is obviously how you feel. You shoulda just typed \"A\" and saved us all the trouble. Whodat would have one less kidney stone if you\'d only typed \"A\". Jeesh... And now we\'ll have to see what Whodat thinks...if he decides to answer the question... [Edited on 13/1/2004 by saintfan] |
