About Harper being chased down from behind by Bradford,
this came after a very long offensive drive all the way to the goal line. When Harper gets the ball, he has to run 99 yards to score. HE SIMPLY RAN OUT OF GAS which has nothing to do with his speed. Notice how hard he was sucking oxgyen after. It's going to take a few more games before I develop a worse opinion on Harper. |

We've got some weaknesses on defense........Harper's not one of them. When Sharper was playing he was lights out. He also looked better in coverage this year.

Sure sounds like it. He could also be called the new Jason Davids, or Tebucky Jones, or Devery Henderson, Reggie Bush or whoever. Seems like there always need to be atleast one guy that the fans can use as a scapegoat and throw some hate at.

If there is a problem I would say it's a systemic problem that is not tied to Roman Harper, but rather to Gregg Williams. Williams told everyone how completely indispensible Roman Harper was and how Patrick Robinson was going to be so improved. I saw no evidence of this whatsoever in the Packers game and this is two games in a row now where Harper and Robinson have been abused and our defense has been torched for more than 40 points!

If the Saints played Sharper as the SS - which would be a mistake in my mind - it would probably just reverse the situation: he'd be better in coverage, but worse against the rush and creating pressure.
If we would need to find him a position to play, it'd probably be as the FS while moving Jenkins to SS, which again would not be ideal. There simply isn't a starting spot for him in the Saints' roster, barring any injuries. I wouldn't mind seeing him as a backup and a mentor to the younger players, but it would have to be with a discount because he doesn't contribute to the special teams. |
