Nope.
The whistle blew before the ball even hit the ground. As a result, the entire Saints team stopped playing. If no whistle had blown, I doubt the entire Saints team would've just stood there and watch the Lions score.

Correct.
And we have already seen what the likes of Brees will do on that Vikings Brian De La Puente poor communication bad snap fumble when Brees brought that runner down with a tackle worthy of a rugby final.

This point was made by the talking heads - Yes they would have more yards BUT not a TD
