I'm saying it again.........we are really going to miss Curtis Johnson as our WR coach.

yeah I think Johnson is going to be the guy we miss most.
I could see Devery moving on. meach can do most of what he does and I think he's a step or two faster at this point. If Morgan is as good as he looked he might be the next hidden gem that we seem to be so good at finding. |

Meachem is relatively cheap. Keep him. If you want a list of guys that are eating up cap money that we should lose, here's my take:
#1-Will Smith (This dude is committing grand theft on the Saints) #2-Sedrick Ellis (Petty larceny, but he's still robbing us) #3-Shaun Rogers (Dude needs a strict diet plan & it ain't gonna' happen in N.O., although I did see improvement at the end of the year) #4-Tracy Porter (I don't know what happened after '09, but it ain't there anymore) #5-Malcolm Jenkins (I had high hopes at FS, but they are dwindling fast) #6-Scott Shanle (Should be way higher on the list, but he's relatively cheap. Regardless.....he gets beat on a regular basis. Bye!!!!) Now.......how much money would just those six save us to use in free agency & improve our defense????? |

I like meachem, but I am not that worried if our receivers skip town. As long as we have Brees he will continue to make our receivers shine.

I like your list Gandhi..
Will Smith would be the first person i would drop off somewhere.. Dude production after being signed to a fat contract has fell completely off the side of a cliff, he kinda reminds me of Charles grant before and after the money.. I noticed a lot of players (mostly on the defensive side) get really lazy after their big pay-outs and never seem to find another job after being dumped off a team. |

I would like to keep Meachem, as he can stretch the field.
However, at WR, Colston is priority no 1. Once Colston is locked up, we can think about Meachem, if he still hasn't signed with another team by that time. The whole key is getting the Brees deal done, so the team can work on Nicks and Colston, probably franchising Nicks until he can be signed to a Jahri Evans-type deal. Most teams value tackles (especially LTs) much more than guards. So Nicks may not get unreasonable offers from other teams. If he were a LT (or other teams thought he could play LT well) his offers would be unreasonably high. Also on Meachem, remember Joseph Morgan (no 13) will be coming off IR. Morgan has the speed at WR, and can also play STs. So losing Meachem might not be that big of a deal. |
