I know they have other needs, I just haven\'t been able to figure out who else they have been tryin to get ahead of...
At first I thought maybe they were trying to secure Ben Troupe (as Sharpe will retire this year or next) but not one team between 24 and 17 had any TE need other than the broncos. So if not Steven Jackson, who? Randy Starks would of been there at 24. Even at 17, theres no guarentee that Reggie Williams or Vince Wilfork will fall.... So no, maybe RB may not be their biggest need, but the Broncos wanting Jackson is the best explanation as for why they traded up. |

Maybe they were trying to get ahead of us. WR, LB, DT... that sounds a whole lot like our needs except for CB.

Starks has now risen from 23 to 17 in my mock. Denver\'s team needs (in my opinion): 1. DT 2. WR 3. OLB |

Denver has probably targeted 4 or 5 players they want and know they will ALL be gone at 24, but 1 or 2 would still be there at 17.
RB-Jackson DT-Starks QB-Rivers DE-Will Smith WR-R. Williams I doubt its a CB. Two high dollar CB\'s on that D doesn\'t make sense, since their D-line needs the most help. LB maybe, but there are some good ones that would have been there at 24 like Lehman, Dansby. |

Yeah, I think Champ Bailey qualifies.
Ahmad Galloway Cecil Sapp Santonio Beard Lots of people have Shawn Andrews slipping to Miami. Denver might want a lineman, defense or offense. |

The Saints don\'t need a running back and defensive end isn\'t a need either so I hope that this article is right on. http://vikings.theinsiders.com/2/250631.html You have to give the Broncos credit. If they want a running back, they successfully moved ahead of the two teams that are targeting the top RBs available. If they want someone like Will Smith, they have forced the hand of the Cowboys and Patriots with the mere threat of moving ahead of them, burn a pick on a RB and give Smith a better chance to fall to them at No. 17. What Mike Shanahan and the Broncos draft posse have done is turn up the heat on the how the 2004 draft will shake out. It’s brilliant and didn’t cost them much. The sad thing is that there is a high probability that the Vikes could have moved up two spots simply by packaging Denard Walker and the No. 19 pick to move up. Now, the Broncos hold the cards and the Cowboys or Patriots either have to move ahead of them to get a running back or play the waiting game. Either way, the Vikes are now out of the equation. |
