JKool --

I\'m not sure if you were around for the season last year or not, but be sure and observe the posts this year...or go back and look at the posts from last year and remember the games being discussed. What you\'ll see is people trying to pin EVERYTHING on Brooks. It\'s as if they don\'t watch the WHOLE game. If Brooks makes a mistake it\'s harped about over and over and over again. Folks that harp on Tebucky will scream and scream and scream about his tackle problems, but if you suggest the Saints got burned deep far less last year then it\'s on.

I\'m also curious to know if you think the Panthers are an \"Elite\" team or if they lived (and thrived) off good fortune last year. I\'m not suggesting (nor have I ever) that luck one way or the other is the primary reason for a team\'s fate...I am suggesting that it\'s a factor. Whodat and others may giggle about it -- but I suspect they know what I mean when I say it.

C'mon Man...

Defensive coordinators cannot scheme for it .....
Defenders cannot defend it ......
Receivers are looking for it .....
And the crowd goes wild when they see it ....

Brooks don\'t know it and does not throw it .....

The perfect pass.....

Saintfan,

For the record, I had some idea what you meant. I just wanted to see what you\'d say.

I think Carolina is a good question. While I don\'t follow them too closely (except when we play them), it seems to me that they are not an Elite team yet. They do have good coaching and good starters, but I\'m not sure the backups are there; also, a lot of guys played well for them last year who were at the time not proven players (thus, I think we\'ll need another year of good production from them to show that are also good players and not simply players having a good year). So, I do agree with you that luck played some role in their success.

Of course, I\'m also not suggesting that elite teams will just win: good players have bad days, good coaches make bad decisions, injuries occur, and of course, there is a bit of luck (the ball takes an odd bounce, the wind is blowing at the wrong time, the ref has his head up is azz, and so on). That is why they play the game and not show each other their rosters.
