Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
as long as we are going to stuff Ingram into the running game over Thomas a blocking TE is a major additions the saints must add. Upgrading RT is also on the wish list. while your at it throw in a better blocking center. Face facts the center and both OT can use an upgrade. Center and LT is not that bad but RT is nothing but age and walking IR candidates.
Blocking TE that can catch will go along way for both the offense and special teams. Thomas was a weak link on special teams last year. Bushrod always needs a chip block when dealing with above average DE. Add the kids height and Drew should be able to see him over the OL. There are some nice TE in the draft to fill that role late in the draft If not just trade Ingram. yep i said it. |

But to sacrifice a pick when help was needed on defense just astounded me; what threw me was to make the investment in Brees and Colston (understandable) knowing that there was little left to develop, sign the necessary offensive linemen and depth to maintain such an attack - nevermind addressing a lack of talent, lack of remaining salary cap, and a lack of draft picks to bolster the defense... Ingram is a talented back, probably should have been a second round pick; but the investment vs the yield had been a failure... |

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
ok we now have MICH St. OC on board so maybe we need to look at which players he may push for the draft. Not only Mich St. but other big ten schools
Dion Sims*, TE, Michigan State Height: 6-5. Weight: 285. Projected 40 Time: 4.80. Projected Round (2013): 2-3. He has been talked about here. that high for a TE? Le'Veon Bell*, RB, Michigan State Height: 6-2. Weight: 238. Projected 40 Time: 4.63. Projected Round (2013): 2-4 Good back but in our rotational system still to high William Gholston*, DE, Michigan State Height: 6-7. Weight: 278. Projected 40 Time: 4.75. Projected Round (2013): 2-4 Skills are there but desire or heart? |

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Gholston does seem like a project based on the film I've seen on him, and I'd be hesitant to pick him any higher than the 4th round - even then it might be reaching.
Here's some of his highlights: |

Potential trade candidates and their expected draft pick value...
Chris Ivory, RB > Fourth Round Pick Roman Harper, SS > Fourth Round Pick Pierre Thomas, RB > Third Round Pick Lance Moore, WR > Third Round Pick Patrick Robinson, CB > Third Round Pick Mark Ingram, RB > Second Round Pick |

Those all seem kinda high, by at least a round maybe two.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
I would never trade Thomas or Moore for a 3rd rounder... or maybe Thomas if it was the 1st pick of the 3rd, but even then it would be hard to pull the trigger on that.
