Looks right up our alley. Small school 2A prospect that fits an area of interest that could be a hidden gem... in time. Would make an intriguing mid round pick.
I would look long and hard at picking him if he is there in the fourth. he has special teams ace written all over him in year one.

there in the fifth a no brainer

ok papz i need LB out of you. every year you have 3 or 4 solid picks

Eric Reid most likely dropped because of his bowl game play against Clemson. Especially during crunch time in the 4th when the game was close. Tajh Boyd and Deandre hopkins absolutely shredded him, according to what i watched...didnt play the ball very well. there was a specific play that should have been an easy bat down but just never turned around. i thought it was a poor throw by tajh boyd, but o well. im thinkin the bowl game really hurt his stock and boosted deandre hopkins. did really well.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Im really liking Quanterus Smith(6'5, 250lbs) out of Western Kentucky University with one of our later round picks,
maybe 5th or 6th. The guy had 12.5 sacks in only 10 games before tearing his ACL. I believe 3.5 of those sacks came from the Alabama game, which shows he can show up big against great talent, especially against that great Alabama O-line that consists of top talent(C Barrett Jones, G Chance Warmack, T DJ Fluker, etc.)

I believe we can hit big with multiple players early if we select rite, but theres some great talent in later rounds as well that i would love to select. lets hope our "few" picks pan out.

"if" he can get healthy and pans out right, i believe he can be a great rotational player or starter opposite of Martez "if" we dont draft that explosive OLB early on(Dion Jordan, Keke Mingo, Jarvis Jones, Damontre Moore, Ziggy Ansah.)

Another guy i like mid round or so is Corey Lemonier out of Auburn, shows great talent and NFL potential.

Let me kno your thoughts...those are just a few names. Have plenty more of names that id like to see us draft but thats good for now.

What's the deal with Jarvis Jones? A bunch of the talking heads refer to him as an if rather than a when.

Whatch talking about Willis?!?

I know there he's got a spinal stenosis problem; I'd be reluctant to touch that with a first rounder...

Ogie!!! Ogie!!!

Take Ogie and all his problems at No. 15 and if we can trade back, gain a pick, and still get him, that'd be lagniappe...

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

JP's Mock Draft Saints (updated 02/22/2013)

Saints Trade Back Scenario

01 (Trade Down)

01 (20-25) Alec Ogletree, LB, Georgia; Height: 6-3. Weight: 236; Estimated 40 - 4.6.

Excellent all-around athlete; Playmaker, sacks production, pass defender, Interceptions; Character Issues - suspended four games for positive pi$$ test; Update: Recently arrested in AZ on DUI just days before NFL Combine ...

Why he'll be drafted by Saints? Wouldn't be surprised if the interview of Todd Grantham is to get more insight into reasons behind Ogletree's suspension; recent arrest will make it more likely that he'll fall, with the Saints veteran leadership and clubhouse, he's the type of bad@$$ we need on defense...

02 Goodelled

02 (52-57) David Amerson, CB, NC State; Height: 6-2. Weight: 194; Estimated 40 - 4.4.

Led nation as sophomore with thirteen (13) interceptions; can move to Safety (position he was recruited for out of High School; will match up well against big, physical NFL receivers; had disappointing Junior Year which will cause him to fall to second round...

Why Saints should draft him? The Saints have to get as physical with receivers as the new NFL passing defense rules will allow which mean physical engagement at the LOS and reducing the passing windows quarterbacks may throw over smaller DBs to WRs...

03 David Quessenberry, OT, San Jose State; Height: 6-5. Weight: 295; Estimated 40 - 5.1.

Rising prospect; Smaller school product that took advantage of his invite at the Senior Bowl and really held his own against some very polished pass rushers.

Why the Saints will draft him? The Saints are different than most teams in that they commit their resources (salary cap) to their interior line; but the tackle play has been less than stellar and rumor is that Bushrod and the Saints will be far apart on contract expectations; a young, quicker, hungrier Tackle may be the ticket to energize what has been one of the best units in the league...

04 Devin Taylor, DE, South Carolina; Height: 6-7. Weight: 275; Estimated 40 - 4.8.

Another player who's stat lines declined this year after being named First Team All-SEC last season; his big frame offers some unique matchups, however he'll have to match up against slower right tackles; but in a 3-4, his focus will be more on occupying lineman allowing the linebackers to attack...

Why the Saints will draft him? He's exactly the type of value the Saints always seem to find in the mid-rounds; and with plenty of defensive ends available the past two season, he should be available...

05 Kwame Geathers, NT, Georgia; Height: 6-6. Weight: 355; Estimated 40 - 5.2.

Big Strong Junior Early Entry from Georgia; Good Bloodlines; Excellent Prospect who'll be available in mid rounds as he still needs some coaching...

Why Saints Should Draft Him? This is Jumpy Geathers' Nephew!

06 Levine Toilolo, TE, Stanford; Height: 6-7. Weight: 265; Estimated 40 - 4.7

Red Shirt Junior who's had his moments in the shadows of TE Zach Ertz including an 141 ReYD in the Arizona game and four (4) ReTd on the season; Playing behind Ertz he did not get the same level of coaching and attention and left with a year of eligibility...

Why the Saints should draft him? This guy's got monster ability and just needs some coaching; with Graham coming into a contract year and the offense "limited" while Graham was injured all season; this is the type of insurance policy the Saints need behind Graham...

Some Bad choices in Free Agency, Goodell Hammerin, and Poor trades have killed our drafts...

If the Saints are going to turn it around this season, they are going to need some shrewd trades and to hit on no less than four draft picks, including the first three picks...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I haven't paid much attention to the draft process as I use to. Honestly I want that hybrid DE/OLB in the first and the rest of the picks elsewhere. I only care about Mingo/Jordan/Ansah right now. Maybe after the combine I may be more into it.

Yep, thats when we'll discover these guys true height and weight.

I'm OK with Jordan if he's bumping 250. If he's at 230, no thanks.
