If he needs a coach to tell him how to kick the ball between the posts after he made the 3 biggest kicks in saints history, he is in serious trouble
No, he needs a shrink. He needs someone to help him prepare to get out of his head and just do what he does -- which is kick a football long distances sometimes accurately. But, the question isn't whether physically he can do it. He has the physical ability.

Someone here said he is a head case. Agreed. He needs someone to help him with the mental side of the job.

For what we are paying him, he can afford to hire someone to teach him meditation, visualization, grounding and focus exercises or something.

Re: Fartley? Really?

Have him practice until his leg falls off? Bring in extra kickers to push for his job? That'll should get him thinking about those misses. But does anyone really want this space cadet thinking?

He's here for the long haul...you know it, I know it. We'll celebrate him when he makes game winners on the road from 45+, then slur him when he botches chip shots indoors at home and pray those botches aren't when the game's on the line.

I have been a Hartley supporter from day one, but after today's effort, my patience has worn pretty thin.

Kickers don't make every kick. He hasn't cost us a game this year... In fact he's won us one. Be calm folks; Hartley isn't going anywhere.

He stinks. And he will cost us a game again. Sorry for being so real.

Re: Fartley? Really?

The painful truth is that we are hurting slightly more than usual, in that we just had to call up Ryan Griffin to the roster from the practice squad; if we had that roster spot open right now, we could probably carry 2 kickers on the squad as we have done at certain times in the past, bring someone in to kick Hartley through his slump and then put the emo kid back out there when his head is back together again.

It's definitely not as simple as just cutting Hartley tomorrow morning. It's way more complicated than that....who do you have on tap that's better, let's hear some names.

Did Hartley cost us this game? Let's clear that one up before we go nuclear.

Re: Fartley? Really?

I think Sean sent him a message later in the game when we stalled out at the Bills 30 yard line and we punted. The 30 yard line, and we punted.

I am pretty confident we did not punt from the Bills 30 yard line. Can you tell me when that was? If we did then I apologise and you are right. I just cannot remember that and think Payton would have rather turned over on downs, trying to throw or run the ball than punt from there!

I think, THINK, we punted on 4 occasions as follows:
4-3-NO 47,
4-16-NO 14,
4-13-BUF 43,
4-9-NO 31
