Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)
Not a MI lover by any means, and no matter what I will stand by and say the PT is a better RB. Period, end of statement.
What is being overlooked here is two things. 1. It seemed like the O line was blocking much better 2. They actually threw quite a few swing passes and other passes to Ingram. Obviously 1 helps ALL of the RB's play better. Part 2 helps Ingram. They all know he is not a speedster, and is not going to be people to the edge and they don't have to have someone shadowing him. That is why since teams "key" on Sproles more than MI or PT that Sproles will never have great rushing numbers. The D co-ordinators know or thought they know that shutting down Sproles and Graham will shut us down. Ingram and PT should run better than Sproles. It's just that tonight it seemed like MI actually made a few people miss with some cuts and once the D had to be aware that he could be thrown the ball they didn't stack up on the run. PT has been doing this for years and better understands how he fits into the offense, maybe this was a light bulb moment for a few people, throw some screens or bubble passes, or make MI a outlet receiver and the teams can't tee off against the run. |
