He's the same guy we have in Junior Galette from what I've seen with maybe a slightly higher ceiling; he doesn't warrant a selection by the Saints... Van Noy is one of those guys who's got the film but GM's may be afraid to pull the trigger in the first or upper second round because he doesn't have those combine measurables to reinforce, explain the argument for selection... I've always preferred Sammy Knights vs Reynaldo Turnbulls; just gotta see where a prospect can apply his gifts to the game to give him an edge; rather have a guy that makes plays with his smarts and pushing his talents every week to the extreme than wasted "potential"... If he's there in the third round, I'd strongly consider Van Noy; but where we'll be picking in the third - he should be gone and really like a couple of safeties grading in the second round to transition from the Harper/Jenkins experiment that has failed miserably and to complement Kenny Vaccaro and Rafael Bush so that we shore up the backstop... For me, those big gashing plays are still fresh in my mind... |

that bring us to Van. i like him a bit better as a steady player. he is hard to judge because like Beasley when he played top competition he kinda disappeared. if i had to pick from only these two i would cross my fingers and go with Von. reason versatility and pass coverage skills. there are others i would look at in round one. FS jumps out at me along with OLB. we need to get bigger and fast. |

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
We are all here talking about drafting defensive players when really it's our offense that needs help.

Id also love to see some offensive line upgrades and some Lb upgrades but secondary is my biggest need IMHO |

The next pick Morgan Moses, also address the Ol and it's present day depth as well as looking to the future for new starters. i now i am beating my drum for this kid but to get a RT that has the ability to play LT if needed is a glaring need. That was Streifs job before he became a starter and the saints have not found a player to take that role. I really think he will stand out at the combine. ROT that can has the quickness of a OG when pulling? not bad. i rate him as one of the better gambles in the draft. Both player come from teams that require blocking at the second level, pulling and screen blocking. Both are probably among the best at playing on the move. run blocking is not an issue and both are solid pass blockers also. with them the saints would get immediate upgrade for team speed and athleticism on the OL. with both picks you might have the future replacement to go with Armstead. WR is an issue plus a blocking TE would help. god knows Graham is one of the worse blocking TE in the NFL. |
