this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Can someone explain why Payton is quick to abandon running the ball when it is successful? Or why he keeps calling screen plays when they aren't working, for whatever reason? Or why he will call for a reverse, double-reverse, etc ...

Re: Sean Payton’s ego has cost Saints
Can someone explain why Payton is quick to abandon running the ball when it is successful?
Or why he keeps calling screen plays when they aren't working, for whatever reason? Or why he will call for a reverse, double-reverse, etc on a short yardage play? Or why he calls a pass on 1st down so often, it is as predictable as which direction the sun rises? As smart as Payton is, sometimes he over-thinks plays. If he doesn't think PT, Ingram, Sproles, Robinson, etc, can't get a yard or two, then maybe he needs to cut or bench that player to send a message. |
