this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I like it. His smarts and technique should allow Him to remain effective 15 yards inward. With Byrd and Vacarro covering the backend, any lost of speed he's incurred should be masked on vertical routes. If he's our starting nickel ...

If he's our starting nickel covering slot receivers, that's something we're not even going to game plan for.

Re: Saints sign Champ Bailey
Some of you are forgetting he missed a TON of games last year. Like half the season or more. Actually, I just looked it up, he only played 5 games last year.
I'd rather have Jabari Greer back, provided that he's healthy. But having said all this, I hope Champ Bailey rocks! Sort of like he-who-must-not-be-named rocked when we signed him as a free agent in '09. You know what I mean. |

He's washed up but he's also one of the best CB's of all time so I guess it can't hurt to have him for depth. His invaluable knowledge will be the most useful part.

We have a solid front 4, 2 YOUNG gifts at DE bringing pressure, add a solid SS in Vacarro, ball hawk @ FS in JByrd and a strong #1 corner in KLewis. Champ is older but he has TON of support to be good. What helps out a secondary? ... A strong pass rush. Baring any major injuries the Saints are gonna be a scary defense in 2014. Bailey won't have to be great ...just good. This could be the year to bring that prize back to New Orleans. |

Re: Saints sign Champ Bailey
Something tells me he will either be our nickel corner or play 3rd safety in Rob's 3 safety sets

Re: Saints sign Champ Bailey
If this means we can't afford to sign Rafael Bush now then I'm really opposed to it.
