Brandin Cooks - A
- If he was 6'2 or 6'3, he would have been the first receiver drafted. He's a WR that Payton and Brees can put the ball in his hands on quick screens and let him make a play like Sproles. Plus he can blow he top off a defense, giving Colston and Graham more room to work over the middle. Great pick Stanley Jean-Baptiste - B+ - great height and ability but still a little raw. Once he's able to digest the playbook and get some coaching on technique, the sky is the limit. He and Lewis will make a great pair of starting CB's for years to come Khairi Fortt - B - good prospect for the 4th round. Will need a little work, needs some coaching and to live up to his potential, but could be a solid contributor if the light turns on. Should make an impact on special teams. Vinnie Sunseri - C -with Byrd, Vaccaro and Bush, and other needs on the table, it was a surprising pick, especially with a late ACL tear this past season. He's smart, maybe one of the smartest football players on the defense, but lacks the athletic ability. Should be a great special teams player if he can stay healthy but how much "defensive" playing time will he see? Ronald Powell - B -High risk, high reward pick. Had the same ACL damaged twice, so major injury concerns there. But, when healthy, he played the DE/OLB hybrid at Florida, and could be that edge guy we were looking for. Here's to hoping he's not Cie Grant 2.0 Tavon Rooks - C -definite developmental prospect and not guaranteed to make the roster (but who is outside of Cooks and Baptiste?). Could stand to add more weight and strength, but is exclusively a RT, so Strief has a backup with experience on that side of the line. |

Re: Grade Our Draft!
B+. Getting Cooks, Jean-Baptiste and Powell gives us 3 immediate impact players. Fortt and Sunseri will both help our depth and special teams. Rooks may turn out to be a player if given the time to properly develop. The only drawback was the inability to draft a C/G player. Powell and Jean-Baptiste will be the keys, they both develop, our defense will become Elite.

I'm not so happy this year as I'm hearing Payton talking about a "reach" to draft a center in the second round, so instead we really "reach" and grab a "prototypical" CB instead. I guess Payton and Loomis are just playing it safety.... I mean safely this year? You know that prototypes rarely make it to market right? I'm think our OL is going to make or break the team this year, so yeah I wanted to see some more OL type beef showing up at our training camp. My quote key is now worn out.... |

Re: Grade Our Draft!
I'll admit that I was stoked about Vacarro. Now I just want to sell a watch to Cooks.
