Re: AB in Saints HoF
Have you compared our 40 plus years to those teams? We'd have about 3 players in our HOF if that were the standard.

Brees, Nicks, Colston, Graham?---all top notch at their positions. Look at some guys we have already: Kilmer, Doug Atkins, even Dempsey. They were barely Saints. I understand your point; I just feel that we can look beyond a guy who had 3 good seasons and choose a higher calibre of player. |

Just to be clear, a Saints Hall of Fame was an oxymoron for at least 40 years. I just saw a "value" list on pro-reference and they had Brooks rated as the 15th best in our history. Seriously? Kinda sad really. Its why I get embarrassed when newbies blast other teams futilty. We were the laughing stock of the NFL for nearly our entire existence. Although I still don't mind making fun of Atlanta. They sucked as bad as we did, only they looked much more low-class doing it. |

Re: AB in Saints HoF
I'm sure I'll offend. Whatever.
He absolutely belongs in the Saints HoF. Ab-SO-Lutely beongs. Anybody who thinks otherwise is a moron. Offense was never our problem during his tenure. Most of the AB hate - I mean the real AB hate - came from those who wanted Delhomme, and they used every excuse in the book, even going to far as to blame AB for our sorry defense. Determined to replace what at best they called "average" with another "average" because he was from here. BS is what it was/is. He belongs. End of story. Period. Paragraph. GOOD FOR YOU AB! I wish I could be there to see it. |
C'mon Man...

Re: AB in Saints HoF
Ahem, it was JEFF BLAKE who got the Saints to the playoffs where AB got the first playoff win. Brooks in that year was his usual, average, middling, 3-2 record. The QB that some people wanted in that era (Delhomme) went on to win an NFC Championship for his team, and go to a Pro Bowl, neither of which Brooks ever accomplished in his extremely average and mediocre NFL career as a Saint. Brooks left New Orleans and went to Oakland where he continued his trend of mediocrity. Delhomme left, led his new team to the Super Bowl, Pro Bowl, and still holds passing records for the Panthers that have not been topped.

Re: AB in Saints HoF
If you look at our past... I say he deserves it.
He Did his job as a back up and won us our first play off game EVER to that point. He played brilliant and eventually it all falls apart for everyone. Our O line shares part of the blame for the debacle. I have great memories of watching him play and he was a Saint... once a Saint always a Saint. |

Re: AB in Saints HoF
I don't have a problem with AB in the Saints HOF.
I believe that if Hakim hadn't "...dropped the ball" the Rams would have won that game. Brooks was Michael Vick before there was a Michael Vick and IMO the Saints trying to make him a pocket passer is what ruined him. |
