Re: Stadium Poll
New Orleans learned a valuable lesson in defeat on Tuesday. It's not about the bid -- at least not when there's a new stadium in the mix.
By all accounts, Minneapolis' bid fell well short in almost every way from the ones presented by New Orleans and Indianapolis. It wasn't as financially rewarding or creatively ambitious. And it mattered not. Few can play Monday morning quarterback better than colleague Peter King of Sports Illustrated. He made an excellent point this week about the NFL's decision. Why couldn't the NFL have just awarded the 2018 Super Bowl to New Orleans and the 2019 game to Minneapolis. Next Super Bowl will be awhile for New Orleans | Thursday's Dunc Shot | NOLA.com |
One thing I learned from drinking. You should always go Christmas caroling with a group. Oh, and always in mid-December.

Tighten up Marilyn, is that why your Vikings suck ballz? They are discouraged that other teams are winning more? ![]() ![]() |

Re: Stadium Poll
I voted no not yet but its getting close to time to start thinking about it though maybe another 5-10 years and when that time comes I think we need a retractable dome IMHO that would be nice I think we should take advantage of this Louisiana heat and humidity .
We need to start planning for it cause it will happen eventually. I think a ticket price bump with the stipulation that it goes for strictly stadium rebuild is justifiable . I do not like the idea that a straight up majority tax payer funded stadium that is something that I don't like. I hate it when the owners/nfl holds a state hostage for building a stadium or they threaten to move the team elsewhere. |

Re: Stadium Poll
The Dome should be fine for at least another 30 years, then with another renovation good for 30 after that. I never really got the idea of tearing down or abandoning perfectly good stadiums. But, if the Saints ever decide they NEED a new crib, then let the Benson family completely fund it.

Re: Stadium Poll
It seems like Indianapolis is almost always in the running? I have never been there so I cannot say from experience but from what I hear its a pretty bland city.

Re: Stadium Poll
The Dome is one of th very few things we got right. It does define N.O skyline. You are so right.
To build another SuperduperDome..where? Metairie away from the tourist attractions. Over the Lake? Same thing. Even where Benson proposed by the Claiborne/Municpal Audtiorm way. That is the edge of teh Quraters, ghetto and dangerous. The Dome is on the business side of Downtown and the heart of teh toruist things. The Dome will have to continue to be done some kind of way to update the inside. Many here have made good point about the interior. Lighter, brighter, retaurants inside...etc. I have not been to N.O. in a long time. What happend to the Hyatt and N.O. Centre? I remember going to games at night back then when it was all up and running and people used the N.O. from parking, shopping, etc. before the game. It was an extension of the Dome in a way. I remember my parent's club had dinner at the Hyatt before the game as did many people. The retractable roof idea is the new thing for stadiums. I get that. The weather in N.O. is hot as hell in the day and muggy hot at night. Only difference at night is there is no sun. I remember when in the 1980's at a night game, the air was out in the Dome. UGH,it was awful. With air circuits on full blast and a retractable roof, it would still be miserable. Also, it rains ...often...night, day, anytime. |

Re: Stadium Poll
No we dont need another stadium. Look up at the upgrades we have put into the place just since '10. If we drop some more into it (which I am all in favor of upgrading) right now or the next 5 yrs ,we got to be close to that billion dollar fig which these other New so called state of the art stadiums are at now. change the top/ expand it/ big tv's whatever, dont tell me it cant be done. Cause it can
I dont want to drive to the snore shore, or Kenner for gods sake to see the game. |
