If Harbaugh goes back to college, I don't think it's Michigan...

It'll be LSU, Florida, or Tennessee, or maybe Georgia...

He'll probably get out of his San Fran gig and go to another NFL city...

Back to the Saints Linebackers, we definitely need to start with a modern NFL Linebacker coach who can BOTH Assess talent and develop same...

We have Coach Johnson (Reference: North Dallas Forty)...

Re: Saints Linebackers

In no way is this an absolute measurement of what a good linebacker is; simply another viewpoint regarding the linebacking personnel...

When you look at the measurables, athleticism of our linebackers, only three are of a good size 34 linebacker, and only one of those has the quickness, speed to operate in space and he's on special teams...

Todd Davis, 6' 1", 230
Kasim Edebali, 6' 2", 253
Junior Galette, 6' 2", 258
Parys Haralson, 6' 0", 255
David Hawthorne, 6' 0", 246
Ramon Humber, 5' 11", 232
Kyle Knox, 6' 1", 220
Curtis Lofton, 6' 0", 241
Ronald Powell, 6' 3", 237

When you look at the better linebackers in those formations, their taller (6'2" - 6'4"), leaner (235lbs-247lbs)...

Yes, I was a huge fan of the Dome Patrol and I know Sam Mills was 5'10" on a good day; but his complements, Jackson (6' 2"), Johnson (6' 3") and Swilling (6' 3") were 34 prototypical size...

Am researching our current linebackers measurables in space (i.e. 3cone, shuttle)...

As far as game tape, our starters instincts suck, with the exception of Parys Haralson, who's success is due more to his instincts/experience than his lack of athleticism...

Really trying to see why we're continually missing in our scouting of securing playing speed among our linebackers...

Our problem is we pay the wrong people too much money on defense

And that's why I really am confused by the Galette signing...

He's a one trick, undersized pass rusher - the opposite of a Hawthorne who's a two-down thumper...

So why are we paying him three down money?!?

Sarcasm aside, I know he plays three downs, but he gives up waaay too much rushing yardage because he's singularly focused on sacks...

And wha't more frustrating about Galette is how limited he seems to be in effective pass-rush moves; other than speed rushing inexperienced linemen, he really has nothing...

Personally I think we should move away from the 3-4 Defense. I am a huge fan of it when you have the right players for it but we don't. We are actually perfectly built for a 4-3 defense at this point.

Looks like we already run a 4-3 almost the entire game. Junior always has his hands on the ground. He's a pass rush 4-3 DE.

Re: Saints Linebackers

Wish we could get 9ers D coordinator

They consistently have a top 10 D every year

Historically, they draft well and have a good scouting group.

And yet our roster personnel doesn't reflect a full defensive squad for either formation...
