You can have a sadistic sense of humour sometimes...

Re: 2015 draft??

I would not be mad one bit if we went Benardrick Mckinney in Round 1 & Denzel Perryman, round 2 ha. Would give us the depth & athleticism we need. Our front 7 run D would be instantly improved. But wont happen. Im hoping for Perryman round 2, but i just cant see how he falls that far. Especially with the success of Borland. Perryman is bigger, stronger & more talented than Borland is as well.

Not sold on Perryman, but glad you (Sarik) mentioned Borland, if we had drafted Borland instead of the project SJB, there are several games (Cleveland immediately comes to mind) where that upgrade would have been huge...

It's a 'what if' statement, but when evaluating the team, you have to examine those scenarios...

JP,
Kind of curious what are your dislikes in regards to DP? He reminds me of Bobby Wagner coming out of Utah State (same size, athleticism, instincts & intelligence).

Re: 2015 draft??

Perryman can bring it like a truck...actually reminds me alot of Sam Mills...

And I'd like to see his measurables at the combine; his size is a concern for me at the NFL...

He definitely knows when to pick his spots, but in the NFL, the spots pick you...

Not against him, just not sold, yet...

If he's there at round 2, I'd like that selection as a three down linebacker...

If you could insulate him with a larger linebacker (i.e. Mills (5'9", 235lbs) with Vaughn Johnson (6'3", 245lbs), then you may have something...

Re: 2015 draft??

how about later in the draft LB that are hitter like Perryman and just as much of cover man as he is

Stephone Anthony, LB, Clemson 6015, 245 4.78
Talk about bring the lumber. pass coverage? not so much like Perryman

Then the two i am watching for later rounds are

J.R. Tavia OLB Southern Cal 6015 250 4.79
he has become more than a pass rush specialist this year also. IMO. Like Wilson he has made solid strides in his all around game.

Damien Wilson ILB Minnesota 6101 249 4.79
here is an interesting prospect. can do a little of everything and has a non stop motor. plays all of the special team units to boot. top 5 in the big ten in tackles a few stats in pass coverage to boot. If he goes undrafted the saints better bust some butts and sign the kid. he has a solid shot of making this team and playing on all the special teams units.

need to see the beauty show results too

Re: 2015 draft??

Eric Kendricks, ILB/OLB, UCLA
Height: 6-0. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.69.
Projected Round (2015): 1-2.
12/13/14: Kendricks has 139 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks, two passes broken up, three interceptions and one force fumble this year. The senior is a sideline-to-sideline run-defender who covers a ton of ground. He also is an asset in pass coverage as he guards some receivers well in man coverage and does very well in zone. In the NFL, Kendricks should be a three-down starter.

The senior was all over the field against Virginia to open 2014. The big plays he made led to 14 points from the Bruins' defense. Kendricks stripped a receiver of the ball deep in UCLA territory, and a teammate scooped up the fumble to return it for a touchdown. While the quarterback was flooded with defenders on the next drive, Kendricks had tight coverage on the running back and was able to undercut the throw to pick it off and run 37 yards to take it to the house. Kendricks totaled 16 tackles, two passes broken up, the forced fumble and the interception against Virginia. He also was impressive against Texas (11 tackles), Arizona State (10 tackles), Washington (13 tackles), USC (14 tackles, 1 INT) and Stanford (11 tackles).

8/23/14: Kendricks played well in 2013 with 105 tackles, four tackles for a loss and an interception. He was third in the Pac-12 in tackles. Kendricks is an instinctive defender who can defend sideline-to-sideline.

Kendricks was a backup until a breakout 2012 season in which he led the Pac-12 in tackles. Kendricks had 149 tackles with six tackles for a loss, two sacks, four passes broken up, two forced fumbles and one blocked kick. His instincts were excellent as he did a great job of reading and reacting. Thanks to a disruptive defensive line and star outside linebacker Anthony Barr, Kendricks was able to make plays off of them.

Kendricks is getting good preparation from a UCLA coaching staff under Jim Mora, Jr. that has a lot of pro experience. While Kendricks plays middle linebacker for the Bruins, he would have to move to outside linebacker in the NFL if he can't add weight

Re: 2015 draft??

Eric Kendricks i love his game. size worries me but talk about football smart and solid reaction time. among the best i have seen in the past few years. but can he take the beating? I like him better than Perryman
