Wishful thinking, would love for it to happen, but wishful thinking...

What do you think on Arik Armstead?
Maybe to much of a project for us at the moment.

I want Collins if he is there, let him compete for a spot at T/OG this year and he is ready to take over from Grubbs next year at worst. Armstead-Collins anchoring the left side wiuld be nasty.

I think we blew our high risk selection with Stanley Jean Baptiste...

Would love to have the 'luxury' of selecting Armstead, but we can't now that we're behind the 8 ball at both CB and LB...

Agree, just wondering what you think if him as a talent. I really think we need more rotation at DE to keep the rushers fresh. I think its one of the reasons we struggled last year in creating pressure.

I still want Perryman, I also would like to see us trade down out of the 13th pick to the mid 20's range for another late 2nd or early 3rd, there are some solid players there. I hate to say this but the way we have drafted over the years if we stink it up this draft we're not going to be contenders any longer.

Dupree and Arik are those hyped picks that scare the heck out of me. you understand it and you see it but no matter how you look it they are a hard 3 to roll at 13. you look like a genius or you never hear the end of it.

Sweet. now get a RT that is athletic like Armstead and you set. I have thrown out the old school RT guide lines. Elite playoff teams can beat from either side.

The way the boards are looking and all the crap about Brandon Scherff being the one that is the true OG btween the two, you never know either one one could be there.

now see if the rumors with bills are true and package Grubbs off to the Bills. He is the one they supossedly really wanted not Evens.

Draft a polished plug and play OT like Jake Fisher and we are all set.

either OT goes down he can step in play either side.

You have a OG that can jump out side if thing get really banged up at OT.

I like the versatility the 2 picks would give the saints on the OL in the time of need to reshuffle.

Ok how the OG/OC situation? one piece away from solving this issue maybe?

Ali Marpet has climbed up the boards to the 2/3 range now in most places.

3 OL in the first three rounds? boring but i could live with it

Ben Beckwith OG/OC day three instead? maybe

Cutting Pierre Thomas proves to me that Payton wants a true 3rd down back. I think we all know that Payton is gonna get himself at least one toy to play with in this draft, right? I looked at the combine results and found a player who is very interesting and very close to home. I assume as least some of ya'll know who Ross Schuerman is. A white tailback from U of Lafayette. 6" 204 lbs, 4'6 40, 15 bench reps, finishing in the top 5 for RBs in every combine drill, a very well rounded athlete. Led his team in receiving as a junior and is also a good returner. Looks like Edelmam from the Pats. Tre Williams from A&M fits the description perfectly. He is a carbon copy of Darren Sproles right down to the short choppy steps. One of the quickest in the draft for sure. 5"7 195lbs 4.4 40. My guess is Saints take Tre Williams in the 2nd round and get their Darren Sproles clone and kick returner. Marcus Murphy-Mizzoo-a solid back who was a stud kick returner with 7 return TDs, has big hands and can catch the ball. disappointed with a 4.6 40 at the combine.

Walters mock draft from WalterFootball.com has us selecting Shane Ray in the first and Benardrick McKinney in the second...

That would damn near fix the LB problem right there :bng:

Then has us selecting Ifo Ekpre-Olomu in the third...

That would fix the defense!

I wouldn't mind those picks at all, but I don't think McKinney falls out of the first round. With all other ILB/MLB prospects looking bad during the combine he will be the first to go, my bet is he lands between 20-30th overall.

Re: 2015 draft??

Has anyone taken a look at Eli Harold DE/OLB from Virginia? Could be a decent 2nd round LB if they go for another position in the first...

Quote:

Eli Harold*, 3-4OLB, Virginia
Height: 6-3. Weight: 247.
Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
Projected Round (2015): 2-3.

3/7/15: Harold was very impressive in 2014. He totaled 54 tackles with 14.5 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, two passes batted, one interception and a forced fumble. The junior had strong showings against UCLA, Louisville and North Carolina. Harold is fast and athletic on the edge. He needs to add weight to remain in a 4-3 defense in the NFL. Harold worked out well at the Combine, but needs to get bigger.

8/23/14: Harold made a big impact as an edge rusher for Virginia in 2013. The first-year starter totaled 8.5 sacks with 15 tackles for a loss, 51 tackles, two forced fumbles and a pass broken up. His season was highlighted by a three-sack game against rival Virginia Tech.

Harold is a fast and athletic edge rusher, but probably will have to move to linebacker if he can't gain a significant amount of weight. As a freshman backup in 2012, Harold had two sacks.

Well you gotta remember we didn't have the rotation we had in 2013...

John Jenkins started the season recovering from a torn pectoral muscle and really never had a chance to recover...

Because we lost Bunkley to injury, finally succumbing to the IR list after a season ending injury in November...

Glenn Foster, who really was our "secret" pass rush weapon in 2013 was placed on IR after an injury during the Detrot game and he was probably playing injured before that as well...

That's three of your six rotational guys on defense, so you wonder what happen on defense, you gotta factor in those guys and their injuries...

Now since Coach Payton is better keeping secrets re: injured players than our government, do we need to find replacements for guys that might not recover is another question...
