Re: Should we fire RR?

I know a few people mentioned it before, but I have to ask again because I saw no clear answer. What is the deal with the soft coverage on almost every play. The worst examples was when it would constantly be 3rd and short. Our CBs would literally be in press coverage position then drop a few yards behind the first down marker right before the ball was snapped. This resulted in many first downs as well as opened up the screen game for Atlanta.

If anyone comes across an article explaining what the benefit of that kind of D is, please share.

I'm so confused by it!

The Atlanta offense is pretty good and the D held up yesterday. The Atlanta D had 16 sacks on the season going into the game but sacked Drew 5 or 6 times. If we should fire anyone it'd be the O-Line coach. In what was essentially a playoff game, we showed little fire or effort. This team has no leadership and I suspect there are problems behind closed doors. Is RR the problem? Personally, I like RR. I hope we keep him.

Replacing the DC every year is the worst option. They seldom get in the playoffs their first attempt, something like 20% chance on a new team. He was the exception last year. It comes down to what would you rather have, a 20% chance or, a higher chance with lessons learned and some new talent. I'll take the later. If that fails he's outta here.

Building continuity. I like it. A lot of us (myself included) also lose sight that this is kinda like Payton's 2nd year as a HC.

Like it or not, we are seeing the effects of that Bounty Gate crap. Call it a cop out or what not for the way this year has unfolded at 7-9 or 6-10 if you like, but losing TWO 2nd Round draft picks or having the option of trading those picks for veterans with leadership qualities and most importantly breaking the continuity of leadership Sean Payton had between 2011 & 2013 showed up in 2014.

Call me stupid for saying so, but I've been called much, much worse.

Payton lost the fire. But you had better believe that the fire is back and Payton will right this ship.

Yeah the D has been pretty poor for most of the year

However let's not forget the Payton's vaunted offense, scored 14 points vs the 31st ranked passing defense, aswell as letting them get 5 sacks and 4 turnovers

Bottom line is, if we scored a TD in the 2 min drill we win the game, but once again Brees throws a back breaking pick.

Positional coaches definitely need to go, I've got a feeling that Ryan will be given another year.

Ryan wasn't out there missing tackles and not being able to stay with receivers, thats what happens when 3/4ths of your D are late round picks and UDFA's.

They played loose coverage all year, and this is honestly my most hated aspect of any defensive scheme. We could play a 1-5-5 all game and I would care less than the ****ty off-man coverage.

Maybe they can hire one of us? Who can coach around here?
