Defense was horrible cause they felt too comfortable and relax that they weren't going to be inactive or waived. Those same players that was scared of their jobs when Payton return played lights out ( A hicks, g foster, galette, j Jenkins) last year. Payton returned from that suspension firing DC, waiving Johnny Patrick & Martez Wilson which were 3rd rd picks in 2011 also cutting Garret Hartley for missing a 26 yd field goal. Next year hopefully, Payton will start cutting the dead weight again.

I too, have wondered the same thing. Ever since he has had to deal with the Pelicans and the Saints he's been virtually non-existant. I didn't feel from the beginning one person could handle both jobs.
