Fire Rob Ryan

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Anyone defending Rob Ryan or any of his players at this point are not being realistic. I don't want to hear about injuries, or Payton interfering. We played the worst offense in football today. Nobody complains about Payton getting in ...

Anyone defending Rob Ryan or any of his players at this point are not being realistic. I don't want to hear about injuries, or Payton interfering. We played the worst offense in football today. Nobody complains about Payton getting in the way for a couple of games when the defense actually looked like it existed, but as soon as we go back to sucking, now it's Payton's fault again.

I'll tell you what's Payton's fault. Coming out of the half and calling three straight run plays for a 3 and out, after they couldn't stop our passing game the entire first half. It's his fault for continuing to try to force the run when it wasn't there. They couldn't cover us all day. You don't need balance if one part of your offense is unstoppable.

But the defense? These coaches are awful, and the majority of these players are awful right now.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

id be there with yoou if they weren't t-ing off on brees and sacking him. I not for that then put the run game on the shelf and just pass, but we had to force it to keep them honest and slow down their rush a bit.

Re: Fire Rob Ryan

I'm thinking he went to the run game due to the lack of pass protection.

The lack of pass protection came from being behind in 2nd or 3rd and long from trying to run into a pile. That pass rush was non existent in the first half. And here's another thing I've got a problem with: Why is Drew, once again, standing around in the pocket? I praised the game plan against the Falcons a couple weeks ago when they got him out of the pocket and bought him time.

Where was that when the protection was breaking down today? No adjustment was ever made. These coaches just don't take bad teams seriously and I'm frankly fed up with it.

Yeah, there are any number of things they could have done to off-set the pressure, but never did. Running only works if you can get yards. They weren't worried about whether the Saints were running or not, they just kept loading the box in hopes of getting pressure. So when the Saints ran, it was right into the pile. That's why you either roll Drew out or, as you said, run more screens. They kept trying play-action....... Really Payton? That just gives them more time to get to Drew.

Re: Fire Rob Ryan

They need to fire the whole defensive staff. That cluster f*uk on the defense is a collective failure from rob on down to the payton cronies and why draft 3-4 players to play 4-3. The Saints love trying to put that square peg in the round hole.
