So if there isn't a chance for further injury, why sit him if he wants to play?

I think part of it also might be he is afraid of giving way to a younger guy. That how Brady got his break and Bledsoe was out the door.

Re: Drew Brees in ‘horrible, miserable pain,’ still wants to play

Ok so just a couple of thought on Drew playing;

1. Hall of Fame QB with this injury just sat out 5 weeks but our Managment group is willing to send Drew out because he wants to play in a meaningless game on a team that is going 5-11.

2. So our Managment group will send out a seriously hobbled Hall of Fame QB with a OLINE that will insure Brees is carted off the field before the first half is over.

Seriously ... We are not seriously discussing this possibility. If the Powers that be allow this to happen someone needs to clean house. The last point on the decision making tree here is "Drew wants to Play".

Au contraire, mon frère ... there is greater chance for further more serious injury.

Not according to the article you linked...

David J. Chao, a former NFL head team physician who runs the @ProFootballDoc account on Twitter, wrote "there are no long-term consequences" to the injury. The main issue is pain tolerance and effectiveness, he wrote.

Because there is no upside and a lot of downsides.

First and foremost he could be seriously injured because he is hobbled. It's reckless to risk the 2016 season at QB.

Second the games are meaningless. So even if a hobbled Brees give the team the best chance to win, what difference does it make?

Three is the simple fact that the organization needs to get some sense of the potential of Grayson. What better situation than two totally meaningless regular season games to get that?

I mean if Brees were within 10 games of Farve's starting streak, that may be one thing. But he's alredy missed a game this season.

There is no upside to having the franchise out there at less than 100%. Only bad things can happen.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

More information. First is the current injury report:

Terron Armstead KNEE QUESTIONABLE
Ben Watson KNEE QUESTIONABLE
Drew Brees FOOT QUESTIONABLE
Zach Strief ✓ ELBOW QUESTIONABLE
Marques Colston ✓ CHEST QUESTIONABLE

So putting the franchise out there injured with two injured tackles seems like a good idea?

If Brees plays I'll spend the entire game SMDH in disbelief.
