AP reports the Houston Texans have given LB Jamie Sharper to shop himself in a trade and are considering doing the same with fellow LB Jay Foreman. It's possible the team would accommodate a trade for one of those two and then keep the other. Sharper is considered the player who might command the better value in a trade. Trading Sharper would create significant salary cap room because he's in the last year of his contract. If he is traded, the team would save $5.625 million. Foreman has three years remaining on his contract, so the team would only save $890,000.
Now if anyone remembers, he was Ray Lewis' partner in crime. He's an absolute beast and would be a great addition to this team. How about a Howard for Sharper? It seems like the Texans are always looking for pass rushers and we've got a pretty good one to trade with. Now for all you people who say no, he hasn't lost a step and no he's not over the hill. GEEZ! |

Not only has he lost a step and is over the hill, but the Texans run a 3-4 defense. Who says Howard will even fit there? He would have MORE responsiblity in a 3-4, and therefore his injury prone nature would be brought into question. However, since Sharper is older and slow, they may make the deal anyway, but they would have to throw in at least a 3rd.

I don\'t know much about the guy as of late, but for a guy who is old and slow, he sure does have some impressive stats over the last 3 years:
2002 Houston Texans 16 135 95.0 40 5.5 -sacks 2003 Houston Texans 16 164 105.0 59 4 -sacks 2004 Houston Texans 16 137 96.0 41 2 -sacks I\'ll take him in a New York second.. |

Jamie Sharper is the main guy in a 3-4 defense. Of course he is gonna get numbers. Go look at his Baltimore numbers when he wasn\'t the main guy and Ray Lewis was. Not so good. But even with that said, he would be an improvement, although like Danno pointed out, going from a 3-4 to a 4-3 may not be so easy. AND he has been in a 3-4 all his career. I don\'t wanna trade Howard for him though unless they give us something else, like a 3rd.
