this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; It is hard to be excited about Mayberry unless he is just a PART of an upgrade to our line. It is hard to see how an upgrade at RG can really improve a unit - especially when it hurts ...

It is hard to be excited about Mayberry unless he is just a PART of an upgrade to our line. It is hard to see how an upgrade at RG can really improve a unit - especially when it hurts continuity.
On the other hand... what continuity? Furthermore, it is hard to see ANY \"name\" addition to our line as bad, since it is not clear that our line could get much worse under many circumstances. Mayberry is a good addition, just not a critical addition. Get us a RT too, and I\'ll call that a victory. Of course, we still need a playmaking LB and a Safety. |

I agree with that Kool. If we get Miller too, I see the big picture, although I hoped on top of hope we would get better players on D. Maybe that will be a full target in the draft. Who knows? I am willing to TRY and go through another week without being pissed at the team. TRY. If another LB goes off the board though without so much as a visit here, all bets are off.

I\'m with Whodi on this one (since he agreed with me... ).
I\'m fine with the moves being made on O, but HEY how about some on D. If another top 10 FA LB drops from the list without so much as a rumor that we talked to him, I may die. As far as I\'m concerned, there is one STUD LB in the draft, and I\'m pretty sure we\'re not going to get him (if I had a bet, I\'d say we\'ll be getting a DT). Thus, if we do not get a stud in FA, we will be looking at Watson, Bockwoldt, and either Allen or some other \"no namer\". Yikes! We\'d better get Superman to play DT if that happens! Is the man of steel available? Let\'s give him a call. |

Mayberry was a good pick-up.
This is a move that I really like...though I was hoping for a Defensive rebuild...and hoping that 90% of all F.A. activity, and Draft picks would be geared toward the D...
Of course..it is only one move..but..It\'s also the first move... We potentially will have one of the better rotations in the NFL when it comes to the O line...Especially when and if we acquire Miller, then with the talented youth we allready have in place...we could be a semi dominant kind of Offense. Depth never hurt any Offense....But I hope they get aggressive , and get this D fixed now..unless we want a top 5 Offense..and an 8-8 record... |
