Mayberry was a good pick-up.
Jermane Mayberry wasn't on most anyone's radar when free-agency began. And when word got out that the Saints were interested in Mayberry, many questioned why the Saints were interested in a Guard when we needed to be focusing on RT.
While right guard is Mayberry's natural positon, he has starting experience at every postion along the offensive line. Except at center. While with the Eagles, Mayberry opened 65 games at right guard, 17 at left tackle, 10 at left guard and four at right tackle. It's unclear what position Mayberry will play on the Saints' offensive line as there are still reports the Saints are interested in RT Fred Miller. If Mayberry is asked to play RT, it's not like he doesn't haven't experience there. In fact, not only does he have experience at RT, he's played 17-games at left tackle. Considering the Saints really don't have anyone with starting experience at LT, if Wayne Gandy should go down, the addition of Mayberry will look even better. |
