I can extrapolate that from the first play of the pre-season. I would suggest holding off on predictions until after halftime of the third preseason game. The first half of that game is the most likely predictor of the regular season because virtually every team game plans for that game and play their regular season starters until halftime. Yesterday, the offense was skewed the moment Ingram fumbled the ball on the second play. Brees played for 2 plays. Brees will likely play nearly 1000 offensive plays during the season. Grayson and McCown will likely play none. On the defensive side, the 1st team defense held the Pats first team offense down until the middle of the second quarter. So there were quite a few positives to see yesterday. The most important groups to watch in preseason are the 1s and the rotational 2s. Come the regular season, only the 1s will be playing as long as there isn't injury. 2s will rotate in for subpackages. Other than that, players are not going to make significant contributions. All im going to say is, 2009 0-4 pre-season. No one gave us a chance.
Have some faith people. It was the first pre-season game. Some people here are such fatalist. Keep things is perspective. |
