I\'m with Scotty on this one.

Karney didn\'t see the field anywhere near as often as he should, thanks to McCarthy\'s ridiculous 2TE set. We tried to disguise our run more this year, and it failed.

The decision to go to this different (2TE, more options) set was made before T-Rex left (so it isn\'t because Karney was a problem that he didn\'t see the field, since Karney hadn\'t even been drafted at that time) - the decision was supposed to take advantage of our quality WRs and the Conwell/Boo tendem that our coaches thought would free up Boo to make plays.

Well, I think Boo and Conwell has played their last game as Saints. We have given them every opportunity possible. We need to turn the corner on those two. I hope we can get a Crumpler kind of guy.
Well, McCarthy is no longer and we are still looking for a FB. wgat gives?

I don\'t think we\'re looking for a FB. All the guys we\'ve brought in are HBs - Dayne, A-Train, and Smith are all Tail Backs, though I suppose A-Train played in an Ace system (but that doesn\'t make him a Full Back).

2000 770 in 16 games

thats the most yards he got in a seaon, not close to 1,000. Never said anything was wrong with Karney but backing him up and RB spot... sure. Its easy to go from RB to FB as well, one just blocks more often. Put a helmet in someones chest come on... hey its just options.

ron dayne isnt gonna want to play fullback. no first round running back is goin to settle for fullback, not to mention he will probably suck at it b/c theres a mentality to go with that position, and karney has the toughness to play it. mike karney is a heck of a fullback and with him in the game the running game was much more efficient. the saints only carry 1 fullback and u can bet it will be karney. i dont want dayne here anyway. he hasnt done much and i didnt think he was gona be good comin outa wisconsin. the saints must be sweet on college all time rushing leaders. why dont we sign troy davis to another contract. or bring back ricky. if we get dayne, which will be too expensive in my opinion, be prepared for another ex college great gone bad for the saints.

A RB who is not particularly physical isn\'t your best bet at FB.

I think if we got him he and sandwich sully would have eating contests
I was gonna post something along these lines when I first opened this thread...probably like Dayne and Sully might find a few good gumbo houses between the two, but Dayne fits the mold for the kind of people the Saints like to go after. I would hope they wouldn\'t, but, ya never know.

bro i wouldnt mind dayne as a number three but i wouldnt put him in at fb in front of karney. the guy played well for us last year from what i saw. i like the kid and he can catch out of the backfield. but i think dayne would be a nice fit to put in for a couple of plays here and there. but not for to much money
