AS is more of a 3rd down back vice an every down back. Depending on what d he is going up against, it\'ll be good to have a different style back to complement him.

AS on 3rd downs can only be used in certain situations, short yardage is not one of the options. Remember, AS is a quick, lightweight, slashing type of runner. So if he does get the ball it should be on the first or second down. Then again, you know what? I can see your POV. So idontknow. But I guess you or I could run the ball to daylight if a hole was there. That\'s the problem. I get so sick of seeing Duece piled up at the line of scrimmage.

Ron Dayne

All the talk about Ron Dayne as a FB strikes me as a little funny. Dayne may be built like a FB, but as a few folks have already pointed out, he doesn\'t run like one.

He doesn\'t resemble a power-back in any aspect of his game except for his physique. - Danno
Besides, why pay a first-round HB\'s salary to Dayne just to convert him to FB? Fullback is one of the cheaper positions in the NFL to fill. I think Karney is pretty good - and he\'s become something of a fan favorite - so I\'d like to keep him. But even if we wanted to sign another FB, we could get one far cheaper than Ron Dayne.

But he did look good in the 2004 preseason, and I think he even had a 100+ yard performance early in the regular season. Then again, so did Stecker. If Dayne impresses in interviews and will come cheap, I see no reason to turn him down. He\'s got some upside, but I don\'t expect big things from him.
